Solar Power for emergency and home Part2

Part2 Hi ok Now in last post I mentioned that building an emergency Solar generator is not Cost effective and that is true. although if you source parts from e-bay and other places you can bring costs down, I will explain more on that, for me however the preparedness and readiness for any emergency power was more important to me than just cost and maybe for you too, but before we talk about that , the first thing is you have to decide what you want this emergency supply to do for you, because until you look at that, you wont have a clue what to build. You will also find that you need a lot of power, we really have no clue when we simply flick a switch and get our house hold electricity to even say boil a kettle, run a fridge as 2 examples, so until you figure what you want you cannot even plan to build a generator. Let me tell you what I wanted, we have regular power cuts where we live , they really last long but we have had them for up to 5 hours. So I felt that lighting of some kind would be great and to be able to run a 12 volt kettle maybe and a microwave also I thought as we have anew shed it would be great to have light in it from solar power and be able to run my power tools, and be able to charge up our phones too So that is exactly what I did . I et down and planned that out . Let me tell you here and now I am no electrician and I did NOT have a clue about solar power and building a generator, but as I found out good old You-tube to the rescue there are countless videos about the subject some good others not so good .but watch all you can ,before deciding what you want and how to go about it.
