#2020Vision Diary: Day 7

in 2020vision •  5 years ago  (edited)

Oh… how hectic Monday’s have returned to my life.
If I thought finding 4 things I’m proud of would be difficult for a daily post on Steem, I must have forgotten the second part, actually putting up the post. But, let’s not focus on Monday just yet, I still have to share Sunday’s diary.

On my first #2020Vision Sunday, I spend about 6 hours video editing, and here are 4 things I am proud of:

  • Just video editing for 6 hours straight on a Sunday. It has been a long time since I’ve done that
  • Squeezing over 20 GB of footage into a video of around 800 MB, on a laptop with less than 10 GB free space
  • My first time editing a production with 3 different camera angles
  • Finishing the first episode of a new YouTube concept

The video is now on YouTube. A quick link up for those interested:
https://youtu.be/MdQMueYlMKw
It is in Dutch unfortunately, so most of you might not be able to understand it. The humor is very dry, so if you do speak Dutch I would be interested to know if you are able to follow the conversation. A lot of the storyline contains inside jokes directly related to the guest, Huan Grantjie, who is one of the first online comedians to break through in Suriname. Huan and I have actually known each other for quite some time and he even spoke at our very first Social Media Conference Suriname back in 2017, but this is the first time we’ve collaborated in a video.

As a little bonus, I’m adding 4 things you should always consider when making a YouTube video:
A) Always have meeting to define the roles beforehand. The director, cameraman, editor and actor all have their own approach to how they want it done. And yes, it might be useful to have 4 different people for those 4 roles.
B) Always test the equipment. Don’t just check if it works, but test it. Film, look at the footage to see if everything works properly. Charge your batteries.
C) Either have a script or no script at all. In between just doesn't work. It can be authentic to freestyle your way into something if the concept allows it. Or you have a concept that requires a script beforehand, but think it through based on your own ideas and the flexibility of everyone involved.
D) Don’t postpone the editing. The worst part is when the edit gets postponed and you don’t remember anything from that day.

@pixiepost also asked if I can start nominating people to join in on the #2020Vision challenge, which I of course want to do as well. I’ll start by bringing back active Surinamese Steemians and move towards reconnecting with the #Seven777 tribe.

For those who find posting daily to big of a hassle or don’t want to do push ups on cam. How about a #2020Vision Revision?
Everyone I nominate, I’ll ask to either:
A) Do the traditional #2020Vision challenge, 4 push up video every day
B) My altered version, 4 things you’re proud of every day
OR
C) The Active Steemian challenge:
4 comments on Steem posts every day
4 upvotes on Steem posts every day
4 Steem posts a week
4 Resteems a week

Today’s #2020Vision nomination:
@faustofraser
How about getting the guy who introduced me to Steem a little more active. Grateful for everything you’ve done that made me become active on this platform.

To stimulate more engagement, I will add a daily question to my posts from now on to get the discussion going.

Today’s question:
Who was the one that introduced you to Steem?

The #2020Vision Diary is a challenge as part of @pixiepost’s #2020Vision project.
Read more about it here

My personal twist:
For me the main focus will be on posting 4 things I did every day instead of 4 creative pushups.

These tips are very helpful & make a lot of sense. Having a YouTube channel myself, I always have a certain routine when creating my content. Thank you for sharing & great blog as always! I understand sometimes the day gets crazy so it's easy to forget the challenge. But I am glad to see you #pushon & stay the course! Let's keep the #2020Vision alive! 🧚‍♀️🙌💜
