10 Steps to reach 50 reputation score semi-organically

in 30daychallenge •  7 years ago

Today marks a Steemit milestone as I just reached 50 reputation score. While this may no longer be a big thing because many claim that “reputation” can now be bought, I’m still going to do a victory dance for this. Also, I’ll be sharing some of friendly tips for those who joined later than I did. After all, my 100+ days in the platform may merit me the “right” to share a little.

1. Give meaningful comments

As a newbie, it will be difficult to get support and upvotes for your posts. Hence, for the first 50 days you can concentrate on reaching out, and building network. One of the effective ways to do this is by commenting on other people’s content. However, don't comment just for the sake of commenting. Otherwise, this will work in reverse as people may start flagging you and report you to @steemcleaners.

Take time to read the entire post, and comment when you have something meaningful to share. Also, choose topics which are inclined to your interest.

Perhaps you can instill a ratio of 10:1 comments to post ratio. In other words, you can create a post once every time you leave 10 (or more) comments. The odds of getting upvotes on those comments are generally higher than on your posts.

2. Join Discord communities

It's going to take time if you are going to do it alone. You'll be needing friends to grow with, and the best way to do it is to join something like PAL of @minnowsupport, and find a local community. In my case, it was @steemph.

As a bonus, other discord communities have a built-in upvote system that supports your content. You can leverage on that to give you exposure. Then again, don't abuse. Make sure your posts are worthy to be given an upvote.

3. Participate in contests

One of the easiest way to come up with "meaningful" post is by joining "meaningful" contests -- those that will require hard work and/or creativity. Contest hosts usually go through the entries one by one, and when they see the effort, they'll give you an upvote. Who knows, you can even win the prize!

You can follow these guys for fun contests: @surpassinggoogle, @anomadsoul, @jeffjagoe, @karenmckersie

For artsy ones you can follow @juliakponsford, @deemarshall

4. Help fellow minnows

When you help newer minnows, they usually repay back the gesture by upvoting your contents. Hence, despite the "light" impact on your reputation, it still counts. Now, imagine if you were able to help a hundred. Anything small multiplied by that magnitude creates a bigger impact. So why not share some kindess and tips to fellow minnows?

5. Observe and take part in Steemit development

Always be aware of the changes happening in the community. By doing so, you are showing how serious you are in sparking the growth of the platform. Such developments include @dsound, @dlive, @dtube. As a bonus, they'll reward those who passionately contribute to them.

6. Build your own community/network

If you are finding difficulty connecting with others, why not bring your friends in the platform? In this way, you'll have support and upvote from them, and you are helping the community grow further. You can even put each other's username in your fan base lists in @steemauto. This allows automatic upvote to those in the list.

7. Smartly curate quality posts

Curating smartly not only allows you to earn SPs. It also allows you to support users whom you think did well. Maybe they'll end up returning back the favor. So, don't let your voting power unspent.

Also, if you like, you can participate in @steemfollower. It's a sub-platform that allows the members to curate each other's post. Just take time browsing through the feed, and upvote those you think are worthwhile.

8. Responsibly buy upvotes for promotion

If you earned decent SBDs by doing steps 1 to 3, you can invest on giving your succeeding posts some promotional "bump". You can do this by either buying votes in @smarsteem or using bid-bots such as @randowhale, @minnowbooster, @buildawhale.

Since you'll be getting upvotes from, they can definitely improve your reputation. However, just don't overdo it, and make sure that you are using the facility for quality contents. Do not make the mistake of using it on a single photo or meme. You might end up getting flagged. You'll lose your investment as well as your reputation.

9. Join Qurator or similar curating networks

There are sub-communities like @qurator that has curating activities. All you need to do is contribute a membership fee, and you'll have access to their upvote facility. They also have daily theme to help you have more ideas for your content. If you write passionately, they'll resteem and spread the word, giving you more exposure and possible upvotes.

10. Post high quality posts

Lastly, if you have enough support, you can now begin producing daily posts. Just make sure to make it useful for others, so that they will find value in them. I'm sure this will eventually translate into upvotes.

You may check out this post for a few guides on how to find topics to write about: 3 Ideas for Content Diversification.

There goes all my tips so far. I hope you find them helpful. Please do upvote and resteem so that more fellow minnows can read.

Happy Steeming!

Day 12 of 30

I subjected myself to a 30-day challenge (read more). I’m honestly having difficulty keeping up, but I’ll do my best to complete what I started. I still need to post one more for today to be on track. Hope I’ll have it done by today. Cheers!

Hey there!
This is good guidance. I also like the writing style.
I'll definitely keep it in Mind.
I just do my thing and I won't buy upvotes, but I follow how follows me and try to upvote good content or comments.
I think it's not that fast, but fast enough.
But, may it helps - I will resteem your Post.
