This is my entry into #challenge30days by @dragosroua
November 11, Remembrance Day, a day when we honour those who fell and those who served our country during the two world wars and the Korean War and those who still serve.
I wear a poppy proudly. I buy several each year so that regardless of which jacket the weather demands I wear there is a poppy on display over my heart.
I wear a poppy to honor my parents; both served during the Second World war and their lives were forever changed by that experience.
I wear in to honour the men and women who have served and who are serving our country from the First World war through to the present day.
Far too many have given their lives and are still placing themselves in harm's way for me to do anything else.
The poem, In Flanders Fields, was written by John McCrae, doctor, soldier, and poet, and is a powerful statement of the true nature of was and must never be forgotten.
For that is the true danger, forgetting because when we forget history we will relive it. I wear a poppy with pride to honour and to remember.
We must honor and remember. Thanks for this reminder @rlewing
