So I made a logo today on a free program called Blender. I have been using this program a little bit over the past few years but it is always a challenge!
You can search on YouTube for Blender Foundation Short Films, they have quite a few and they are really great pieces of 3D animation.
Here is the logo I created today:

Kewl! My first exposure to 3D software was Autocad, followed by a few years spent with Solidworks. The learning curve is really steep because you have to think about what you want to create and define a space for it to exist in, unlike a 2D drawing program where you can start with a line and zoom in or out as needed. The time spent learning something like Blender is well worth it and the fact that it is free to use reinforces that; they can't take your skills once acquired by denying you access to the program as is the case with other software when the license runs out. Keep at it!

Nice job for your first try. It may not look like a lot but I guess all of those animation programs are really complex.
I watched a 30 minute video last night on YouTube about Motion 5 and what this guy created there also a very simple animation but it takes so much time to get into it.

i think the learning curve for blender is lower than for other 3D software ( like maya, 3DsMax Lightwave etc...),
because so many users make Youtube tutorials.
-more than users of the others; cause they need to earn their money back, for payed licence fees.
Also , the commercial giants are often slow to implement new features, but Blender
updates so often, it is always exciting and surprising what new features appear.
