While our living situation is temporary we have been blessed to live on a property with other off grid enthusiasts!
It's been tough as far as space goes. With this many critters I need a little more room to create a sustainable loop but it has been a very valuable learning experience. We were given the opportunity to learn about living off grid while we had supportive people around if we needed them. Where our property is located, the property we will be moving to, it is a new area for us so building community around us will be critical! While we do that we at least now have enough knowledge and skill to get by on our own while we build those relationships. We are very grateful!
One of our off grid neighbors here lives in a wonderful container home set in the hillside. They decided to add on....
Well, the last time they took containers up the hill our run-in shed and our fence wasn't there! We took the fence down for them. No big deal, all our systems are designed to be moved when we go. We took it down and waited and waited and waited for the container to be delivered. Waiting for a time when the owner could he there and the right weather. Any moisture and it wasn't gonna make it. Well, it's been dry and the owner finally got the schedule coordinated... We moved the fence but the shed he would have to work around
As the driver adjusted the trailer and pulled back and forth, adjusted and back and forth my Arabian looked at me like do something, I think he's stuck!
I'm like hey, there is no fur, no feathers and no leaves on that thing I think it might be better if I stay out of the way.
Well, he made the turn finally and as you can see my Arabian decided he'd stay out of the way to. Lol Unfortunately they delivered it early in the morning and there was dew on the ground!!
I felt so bad for them. They tried so hard to work it out but those semi tires just sat there spinning on that wet grass and the semi driver dropped it right there at the foot of the hill. The morning Dew brought their project to a screeching halt!
The boys paddock is pretty over grazed especially with no rain lately so it will be a relief to get their fence back up and they can sample greener pastures. I think the one their in needs a break.
And in the meantime my husband is trying to locate a piece of equipment to help them move it on up the hill.
It is a pleasure to give back to those that give so generously to you.
That was our excitement last weekend. Thank you so much for stopping by the homestead
