I think success does change as you age. The meaning of success may turn more inwards as one matures. Expectations of others for your success seems to wane and become less a priority.

Confidence, love to have it and hate it when you don't. Agree it boosts your efforts. I think it also gives you the freedom to fail and get right back up again.
