Ms. Anomaly

I'm what? An Anomaly? Well, apparently so. It seems the majority of the crypto community is nothing like me. According to a Coin Dance Bitcoin Statistics post, the community engagement by gender is 91.22% male. I am definitely not in that group! The age range statistics show the largest group by far is the 25-34 crowd. I am definitely not a member of that club either!

So what is a GenX woman doing in the crypto space? First of all, watching and learning. After many years of independently studying personal finance and managing my own investments, I decided to dabble in Bitcoin. As often happens to people in crypto, the more I investigated, the more I learned a whole new language: Blockchain, Decentralized, FOMO, FUD, HODL, ICOs, STOs, Altcoins, Private Keys, Cold Wallets, Paper Wallets, and on and on. As I fall further down the rabbit hole of the crypt world, I find myself thinking in a language that most in my "regular" life would not even understand. Yet, it is fascinating, almost addictive. The deeper the hole, the more shoveling I do.

All in all, the lesson is this: It's okay to be an anomaly. Do what you find a passion for and learn as much as you can about it. Do it with gusto. Do it with passion. I don't need to fit into anyone's box. This is my circus and I am no one else's monkey. If you want to learn about cryptocurrency (or circuses, for that matter), follow your passion. In fact, strive to be an anomaly!
