Tips for minnows. Commenting and InteractionsteemCreated with Sketch.

Something that I have learned very early on the site is the importance of interaction.

For me this includes all reading, writing, commenting and chatting. The whole structure of Steemit, leads it to reward visibility and effort.

Ignoring the whales at the top of the chain who can sit on their STEEM, for the rest of us it is about being involved and growing our visibility and Steem Power.

If like myself, you have struggled to earn more than a dollar on a post you have probably realized that there has to be a better way.
And there is.

When you are at the bottom of the mountain it's important to get a helping hand from those sitting above you, who have already climbed the path that you face and have left a guide rope for those behind them. You will find that the majority of people on the site are more than willing to give you a push in the right direction for those insistent on making the climb.

For myself the most value I have received from the site is not counted in terms of STEEM earned but in terms of connections made and lessons learned.
( Obviously I like to earn and will still be aiming to do so as I grow ),
But the people that I have met on steemit and the discord servers opened my eyes to a lot of new concepts.

Not only that, when I have left comments and started discussions on people's post for the most part they have responded. With reply's firstly and with votes from the majority. For a user who was earning 10c per post, to see multiple comments a day earning the same was a revelation. Not only that when you leave good and thought provoking insights on peoples pages it can gain you more visibility and in some cases more followers. All of which will help you to grow your profile on the site.

Some of the people that I have come in contact with are true visionaries and will have a big say on how the platform evolves over the next couple of years, so to have them willing to discuss and advise me was a big honor.

Chatrooms

The other place that you can really chat with other users are on the steemit or discord chat rooms. I wrote a post about linking into either during the week so click in if you want the details to join with other users.

For all the flaws that exists here, it's the people that will be the saving of the platform and hopefully in a few years time when we look back on it's beginnings it will be in a totally different league.

To anybody reading this, feel free to comment, follow, advise or challenge. I hope to meet many more interesting people on the site as it grows over the next months.

Thank You for this article. I'm resteeming this.

Thanks, I appreciate that. It's always nice to get a push.

I havent looked into discord yet, maybe in the future. Great tips mate.

I would highly recommend discord groups and channels. They are full of great steemians and a place to share your posts so others can see; whereas they may have missed on their feeds.

And being in a community, like discord, really opens a lot of new connections and channels for exposure.

Definitely.
You tend to meet the most active and interesting steemit members on here. People who really know how to use the site and great to help out. It's nice to be able to chat properly as well, rather than just comment sometimes.
I've met some great characters on the channels.

I agree. The most active members use discord. I'm in there probably 12-14 total a day myself.

Nice, wish I had the time but I do always get hooked when MSP radio has a good show on. Some of the discussions that get going are very enthralling.

Ty for the insight :), it is on the list.

I love the Discord option as you can chat in real-time with other Steemians. Which Discord Channels do you use? I'm in MSP/PAL for the most part, but I'm also joined to a couple of others for Steemit.

I adore the friends I've made there and miss those that have vanished from the platform that I used to talk to on a regular basis. They are truly like members of my family.

I'm in Minnow booster, qurator, homesteadersonline, steemgigs, steemitbloggers and steemusa. I thought I was in PAL also but can't seem to find it here. Maybe that one was on slack before everyone moved to discord. Then I had forgotten about it.

I am on discord a LOT! plus it's connected on phone, tablet and kindle. I am EVERYWHERE! lol

That's the really nice part, being able to be connected everywhere you want. That's alot of interaction! I gave you a Follow so that I can try to keep in touch. Would you say that you have garnered a much larger following by putting yourself on so many Discord platforms? and do you have a fairly large number of those that upvote your content to allow for that extra growth?

I have to admit that Discord has been a very positive influence and rewarding for my following, exposure and rewards.

Well worth the time I spend in there interacting with people and communities/groups.

Just went back to PAL and registered. I'm in there too now.

Excellent! I'm sure I'll see you in the deepend soon enough!

You really should if you get the chance.

I left the links in here for the main ones that I have found, but there are loads of different channels. I just really like the activity on these. Lots of people and things to get involved in.

I will check it out, thnx @niallon11

I thoroughly enjoyed this quick quip about the climb up the side of Mt. Steemit! I personally think that this platform could rival that of Reddit and Facebook in time; however, I think it will almost require an integrated Chat solution instead of needing to go outside of the platform for quick, direct comments.

I know, we should make a secondary Blockchain for ChatSteem, lol. I don't know how quickly the STEEM will rise to the ceiling, but I think with time it will do exactly that.

What are your thoughts on buying in as opposed to just building from the ground?

Followed, upvoted, & resteemed!

I think you're right. There are so many extra's to be found on steem tools but i think that going forward you really need to integrate the most important of those, such as steem chat.
What we have right now is good but there is so much more potential for expansion and with all of the inventive people on here i'm sure that we will see a lot more additions to the site in the next year. For any prospect to grow it needs to have users and people looking to join, so the more user friendly the site becomes the better.
For now we have the creators and the curators but eventually we will need to add a lot more viewers.

I can see the benefit to buying a stake here as i think that STEEM as a coin is undervalued at the moment and when SMT's get introduced there will be a much higher demand for STEEM pushing up the prices. If there are a hundred times more people trying to get their hands on the same amount of STEEM then value will increase.

I always get thrown for a loop considering the valuation of STEEM and SBD with the annual increase of circulation amount compared to the number of users. It tends to be an inverse calculation that is needed.

It's hard to know really, depending on how demand will grow over the next year and how much STEEM is produced but for me it goes back to the most simple of lessons, supply and demand.
I try to stay away from technical data wherever possible, it goes right over my head. Hopefully they can get the registration issues sorted out soon. It takes almost a week from signing up to logging into your new account which in this day will be a huge turnoff for curious potentials.
On the plus side there are such good people here already that the future does look bright for the community.

True, as for just pure Supply and Demand, I think STEEM can definitely go up as more people demand it.

Very good advice for anybody on this platform. I have early on discovered that commenting a lot is very important.
What I haven't really utilized to much are the discord channels. I am in several and try to stop by on a regular basis but are often lost in the conversation. I have no idea what people are talking about and don't like to just say something without really having anything to add to the conversation.
Also, I started a freewriting initiative which has grown way beyond my expectations and I am spending a lot of time interacting with the people who are participating. And really - there is only so much time in a day.

I've seen lots of your free writing, especially in the a1ksp channel. I can see how that keeps you on your toes. Have you joined the writers block on discord? There are some great writers and editors involved there. Some very willing to help out on projects and writings.

There is never enough time in the day to get around to everything is there? I feel the same myself between the different projects and jobs.

Thanks for the insight! I keep meaning to get on discord and blog more. Unfortunately, I joined during one of the busiest months for me, getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas and all. Just happy at the response I have been getting from what I have been able to do.

It's the opposite for me. I'm so busy in the summer that i would never have time to get involved in a site like this one. Now that winter is here there are plenty of long gloomy evenings that i can spend in front of the computer with a nice fire down beside me.

Thanks for the tip.

No problem. Most people already know but i am just posting what i find out anyway.
