Seriously! This is a movie that takes me into a captivating tale, and very classic in its form. The director, Brad Furman nevertheless delivers an excellent film that takes me on forever. Manipulations, twists, investigations, procedure, truth and lies merge perfectly in this film carried by an excellent Matthew McConaughey and a Ryan Phillippe has against employment. For his second film, Brad Furman therefore cement his place as a very creative director.

Review: Now to the reviews. The director, Brad Furman arrives without any harm to embark us in this story more devious than it seems, and even delved into an interesting subject on "how far a lawyer can go to defend his client, knowing his last guilty party". In a sense, the film is somewhat reminiscent of "The Devil's Advocate" by Lumet or "Primal Fear" by Hoblit.
The plot is well put together, even if towards the end it may lack consistency, some revelations during the trial are a bit big. Brad Furman highlights very well the trap that closes on his main character and the director constantly piques my curiosity and desire to go through with his film. Admittedly it lacks originality sometimes, but the question of "how is he going to get out of it" is sufficiently advanced here, that i spent a very good time in front of this movie.
Overall, this is such a good thriller, with a somehow balanced plot. Almost ten years after its release, "The Defense of Lincoln" still poses as an impeccable film. Brad Fruman makes it very simple and devilishly effective. Held by two top actors, held by a devious plot, Brad Furman, delivers there, undoubtedly one of his best films.
