Class Of Lies TV Series (Movie Review)

Class of lies is a Korean TV Series with crime, mystery and thriller package. It starred one of my favorite korean actor Yoon Kyun-Sang and other amazing actors like Geum sae-rok, Lee Jun-young, Choi Gyu-jin amongst others.

The TV Series covers a story of murder, and the quest to reveal who the murderer is and the reason behind the murder which however led the to the unveiling of so many other atrocities like blackmail, corruption, bullying et al. Number of times movies which portrays a school life try to show the lives of students, the pressure they face and the influence of their family has become norm. You just see the movie expecting to see the same thing, but Class of lies gives you a very unpredictable drama that you can not just help but get your eyes glued to.

The movie opens up to the murder of Soo Ah in her apartment and the arrest of her classmate Kim Han-su also her friend who was found at the scene of the murder. The story also shows lawyer Gi Moo-hyeok, who at first was someone who does anything to win for his self benefit but later became an undercover teacher in order to reveal who the murderer is. But being an undercover teacher did not go as smooth as he had hoped because the class which he planned on investigating, Soo Ah's class, was filled with secrets and lies, and nothing is as it seems, there the drama unfolds.

The story covers the lives of Soo Ah's classmates who are all tied up to bullying, stalking, back stabbing, forging of results. The movie has a lot of mind games, between the lawyer and the students. In a class filled with students with different personalities and background. Aside the murder of the female student, the movie was able to portray a school life that is not just only in movies but also in relating to our world. A world where the rich kids get the good grades and always remain at the top irrespective of if they do well or not, where grades are being forged for a good admission spot to the university.

Not just that, the students themselves are being over stressed in the make up dreams of their parent which causes the students to break down. In the case of Han Tae-ra, whose mother did not give her any breathing space after school, tutorial after that, then piano lesson which was so choking for her. A kind of world where some students have to live through being bullied without having anyone to tell because they feel it will probably add up to their problems. Where teachers either turn a blind eye to the bad deeds of the students or take part in them except a few willing to make a change.

The TV series carries on a very entertaining plot filled with suspense. A situation where all is not what it seems, keeping you at the edge of your seat till the next episode. The characters are interesting to watch without a dull moment.

If you looking to see a TV series then you do not want to miss Class of lies, it is worth the watch with lessons to be learnt especially for kdrama lovers. Incase you feel discouraged because of the language, do not worry it is well subtitled.
