So my favorite director for this last phase is Korean director Yeon sang-ho. He is a director that is good at what he does, he manages to keep the thrill on and keep the viewers on their toes like what he did in this movie. His works includes, The fake (2013), Seonsan (2015), Seoul station (2018), Train to Busan (2018). Yeon sang-ho has proven to be a gifted and thorough director, especially in his movie Train To Busan which I would give a review of.

Train to Busan is a 2016 zombie related movie packed with action and thriller, directed by Yeon sang-ho. With a run time of 1hr 58mins it starred actors like Gong Yoo, Jung yu-mi, Kim su-an, Ma dong-seok, Choi woo shik and many others.

synopsis

When a Zombie apocalypse breaks out, it becomes a race of survival.

As a zombie disaster suddenly breaks out, the country is turned into chaos and panic. The movie shows a train going to Busan with different passengers, there is Seok-woo a workaholic business man with his daughter. Due to his nature of being so tied up at work he missed attending an event in which his daughter is supposed to sing. So to make up for that, he promised to take her to see her mother in Busan. There is also a young couple, baseball players and some other persons. Unfortunately, the last passenger to board the train became the thorn in the flesh as she was already bitten by a Zombie and already infected. The entry of this passenger brought about chaos, panic and horror as she spreads the infection in the train. It then becomes a question of survival at all cost.

Train to Busan is a very interesting, thrilling, horror, emotional and intense movie. The struggle of constantly dealing with zombies becomes the order of the day, you see different people fighting for their lives. Questions like....can a business man protect his daughter amidst all the chaos? Would the young couple make it out alive? Do the rest of the passengers stand a chance to survive? The movie tries to answer all these questions and many more. Watching this movie I realize that in the face of danger, you just do what you feel incapable of doing. Faced with life and death, their survival instinct unlocks, you see how selfish some persons can be just to save themselves.

Having seen other zombie movies, I would say this one got me in all aspects, I mean you get the scare, action and emotions. Watching the characters get turned one after the other was a sad sight to see but there is nothing to be done than to cheer the rest on. I love the visuals in the movie, the zombies looks so real and scary. I could feel the rush as zombies attack and as passengers turn on each other for their own benefit. The suspense was also on point, you can hardly guess who might get bitten next, which is a good thing as it keeps you glued to your screen.

Gong Yoo as Seok-woo delivered a wonderful performance in the lead role proving to be a good actor that he is. He really got into character, his emotions, his struggle to stay alive with his daughter was so believable. He was able to capture the viewers with his sincere and strong acting. The characters in the movie all performed well, you could feel emotions as they try to stay alive.

I enjoyed watching this movie as it kept me on the edge of my seat. If you watch Korean movies/dramas then you know how emotional most can be. The ending of the movie is not predictable like other zombie movies as it is a taste of something new. It is a movie worth watching, so you can put it up on your watch list..... especially for those who love the horror from zombie movies, this is your movie.
