The story of the film Newton begins with the main character of this film, Newton, that is, Rajkumar Rao. Who is a government employee recruited from a lower class. Newton is sent as a presiding officer on behalf of the government to conduct elections in the Naxalite area of Chhattisgarh. Before that he was told all the responsibilities of a Presiding Officer. As it was to be an election in a Naxalite area, adequate security forces were sent with it. But as in the real case, all security forces complete a formality and run away from responsibility. Exactly the same happened in this film as well. No one came to the booth to vote because of the poor security forces and fear of Naxalite attacks. Which made Newton very upset and decided that he would go to the village and call people. All his colleagues opposed this initiative because it was a suicide attempt that could kill everyone. But Newton's soul was not witnessing that he should step back from his responsibilities. So he went to the village and motivated people to cast their votes. But soon he came to know that the people of the village do not know the importance of votes at all. Still, he kept on trying. At the same time, he also has a scuffle with his security personnel and the guards provoke the villagers that there is no benefit from casting their votes. This thing becomes a news for the media there. His security forces put pressure on him that no one will come here to cast his vote and go back after covering the goods. But Newton knew that the time to put in more is until 5:00, so he waits until 5:00 pm. During this time, he is also heard with his companions.

With the connivance of the police, Newton and his team are attacked by Naxalites, in which people somehow save their lives. Still does not take the name of retreating from its responsibilities. At the end of the voting time, there is 2 minutes left, during which his security forces pressurize to cover the goods, but Newton is adamant. In the end, he also realizes that no one is going to come, so he covers the goods and walks away. But when four people meet on the way and the deadline is not over, Newton asks them to vote. At this, his security colleagues get angry and ask him not to cast his vote. When the security forces exert more force, Newton snatches their gun and keeps them on target until the voting time is over. Later, as soon as the gun is returned, all the security forces meet and beat it a lot. It is here that the film comes to an end. The film sarcastically obsesses over the mindset of the people conducting the elections and the security forces sent with them. It teaches us in the film that we should not back down from our responsibilities in any situation.
