My Analysis
This song talks about the pains associated with unplanned pregnancy especially if the woman has to bring up the child alone. If the father of the child does not want her or the baby, the responsibilities of raising the child falls on her shoulder. This songs relates to single motherhood, the financial and emotional pains they go through raising a child alone without the support of the man.
The first and second paragraph talks about abortion, where the child is killed before growing and coming into this world. The woman here does not want to be reminded of a man who left her. So she kills the baby to prevent the baby of being a constant reminder of the man who left her.
The third paragraph talks about single motherhood, the stress she goes through and the huge responsibilities. How she sometimes blames the child for her troubles and hardship. She sees the resemblance of the father in the child and is upset that she has to bear the burden alone.
The fourth and the seventh paragraphs sounds like the chorus. It assures the child that there are other places he or she can still find parental love despite the cold attitude of the mother or the father who didn't care.
The fifth and sixth paragraphs talks about abortions done in order to prevent children coming into the world and crushing dreams with their screaming. To prevent acting as a constant reminder to the mother about the man who left her.
I can't place the meaning of the eighth paragraph. Still trying to grasp its meanings. Perhaps it's about the abortion,the father who left or the child.
The last paragraph looks assuring to both the mother and the child. No matter the stigma, emotional, financial pains or lack of parental love you can still find happiness. Cry, be sad but pick up yourself and start all over again. Fight for your happiness. Try your best to be happy because you deserve it despite life's challenges.
We all have our version of challenges. Accepts yours and move on.
I love this song and even the album title suggests a lot of meanings. A brilliant piece by the Daughter band.
