The polling of abortion by religious identity is unsurprising, but still interesting.

Unsurprisingly white evangelicals are the most likely to want to make abortion illegal. Most white evangelicals' views on abortion are shaped by their religious beliefs.

Black Protestants actually are fairly supportive of keeping abortion legal. In line with Black people overall.

Catholics are majority for keeping abortion legal. An interesting historical flip as Catholics used to be the main pro-life group in the US. Likewise evangelicals used to be pro-choice up until the 1980s. Despite Catholic teachings on abortion being morally wrong, many Catholics don't let it influence their position on abortion.

Religiosity is a strong correlate for support for abortion restrictions. Extremely high rates of atheists and the religiously unaffiliated support abortion being legal. An amazing 97% of atheists support abortion being broadly legal. 0% support a total ban.
