Crossfire and Other Casualties of War - Help @allasyummyfood offset downvotes!

Yummy Food

If you've been around here for more than a couple of minutes, you're sure to have run into a few posts by @allasyummyfood, one of the great Steemians who posts primarily about tasty food that she's making.

My point is, with all the drama going on around here, if ever there was a Switzerland it's the lovable chef who shows us how to make amazing strawberry mousse cake. Apparently I'm wrong.

The Vote Goes Down

She posted yesterday about an unexpected downvote she received on her post about Russian meatballs.

With one click, that's $20 gone from her post!

What did I do?

From her post simply asking the question, "What did I do to provoke your hostility?" the response was more hostility.

More specifically, the answer was:

because you make stupid fucking comments like this

Oh blockchain, one of the things I love about you most is how you don't forget anything!

Apparently, the answer had a life of its own.

So, the answer began as this.

because you're an ignorant twat that makes stupid fucking comments like this

And then, after about an hour, better judgement set in and it was adjusted slightly.

I see this move as recognition that maybe the first comment went a little too far, and I'm thankful for that. I hold firm in my belief that peace is possible and hope these key players do as well.

It's coming

Now, here's where it gets bad. Remember that omnious warning?

It's coming.

Apparently that's no joke.

My concern is that is only the beginning.

Does it really matter?

To underscore the significance, I want to remind readers that @allasyummyfood went full time Steemit just last month!

As any self-employed person knows, money does not automatically show up in your bank account every 14 days like flawless clockwork as most of the traditionally employed world knows. It's a daily grind with varying degrees of consistency and absolutely no guarantees. Actually, it's even tougher here, since nefarious customers in the real world can't actively remove funds you receive from other clients.

Think about that. Workplace drama is real, with daily criticisms the sad norm. Now imagine your bitchy co-workers could literally remove your pay, for any or no reason, just because they want to.

When you downvote her posts, you're quite poetically taking the food from her table. Sorry, I put that way too politely. You're stealing her food and attacking her ability to survive.

So yeah, it matters. It really matters.

How can I help?

I'm glad you asked! First, go to @allasyummyfood, upvote a few posts, and then follow her so you can keep up the support. More importantly, if the downvote flood is unleashed, I hope to drum up enough community support to offset any losses so definitely keep watch for at least the next few days.

Now, since I'm stepping outside the sovereignty and safety of Switzerland (while actively advocating for alliteration) I fear this post itself may be downvoted into oblivion. One beautiful thing you can do to offset that is to resteem this post to all your followers! My life here is measured in days so I can't get the same exposure that you have access to. And if this is resteemed any downvotes matter far less.

And finally, write your own post! My goal is twofold, first to increase exposure so that everyone is aware of what's going on around here. Then, most importantly, to open the dialog so that we can find a way to end the nonsense.

Because let's be honest, this is nonsense. Unless a couple of teenagers somehow got a few million bucks of STEEM and are actually behind all this fighting, we're all adults here. Let's start acting like it.

you know I was feeling pretty low about all of this, but you just posted this and really i cant feel more special and just grateful. You have put it all into the right words and its really sweet of you! I appreciate you trying and being so kind. I am going to just try and not be upset and cry anymore. It is such a good example of a workplace, it is my full time job and bread. I hope you get some support on this!

I was pretty put off by all this yesterday so I was happy to break it down into simple pieces to hopefully help everyone understand and get some support behind you!

This is an issue with the underlying rules that govern steemit. For some reason @steemitblog seem to think their biggest issue is scaling. There won't be anything to scale if someone like @haejin can come along and downvote every single post on one users account. Like he did to me. Luckily, I am not here to make money on my posts, it's a research project for my fund. But a lot of people are.

In regards to flagging, I think it is part of the steemit ecosystem and there are posts which are not all that great getting massive votes and by flagging, some of those payouts are put back into the reward pool for others. But it's dangerous when that can be done with no limit or restrictions.
