Abuse is real — IPV or otherwise!

I seen a sign that caught my attention ~ “Help stop IPV”.

So I slowed my step, took a quick scan to see what the sign said about IPV.

Intimate Partner Violence.

I thought after I read what IPV stood for, that it's a new descriptive term for abuse between two people.

Abuse, is abuse, no matter how it’s sliced up into descriptive details, names, and categories. Abuse is real.

Abuse is not only found in a married relationship, but also in any form of intimate relationships, business partnerships, co-worker browbeating, employer browbeating, and in the classroom. The abuse can come in the form of emotional, mental, physical, financial, etc.

I believe in the sovereignty of the individual.

Because we interact with others on a daily basis, me as a sovereign individual, you as a sovereign individual, the other we interact with is another sovereign individual.

They have just as much right to hold onto their own sovereignty as you or I do. Or, at will, subject their sovereignty to one or more as needed, and withdraw from subjugating their sovereignty, at will. Just like you and I do.

Everyone has a job, even if that job is trying to survive the day. When one person reaches outside of their areas of responsibilities, whether it is prior to when theirs starts, or going past when it ends, they are in the territory of another’s area of responsibilities. If it’s unwelcoming, it creates problems. If it’s persistent, or on a constant or everyday practice, it’s abuse. Even with IPV.
