It has been a while since I've posted an entry under Abuse Series. Let's read about a common misconception that it is okay to post items under Creative Commons option as the SOLE content of post on the Steem blockchain.
Oh yes, Pxhere states whatever you want, but that doesn't preclude you from consequences still

I'm sure many people are familiar with sites like Pixabay, Pxhere, etc. They are great resource libraries for anyone to find visual aids to enhance their creation. Far too often, I've come across Steemians using the said aids to pass off as original work.
I know it's CC0, but really?
Depending on who you talk to, they may or may not be recipients of flags. @steemcleaners have a fairly straight forward policy in regards to images being used in this way. Many of us are familiar with comments such as the following:
The catch is, this only applies for the "artistic" tags such as #art, #photography, etc. I imagine other tags used by art curators would fall under the same category as well. Abusers are not stupid. They find workarounds to dodge @steemcleaners. Something like this:
You won't see @steemcleaners flag this unless you can somehow nail them for spam. However, abusers are also well aware of their post frequency to not draw attention from the blue octopus.
Fortunately, there are other groups, with slightly different scopes when it comes to abuse, who deal with people dodging the tentacles. @steemflagrewards is one such group. The organization seeks to complement @steemcleaners' operations by encouraging the community to flag away bad content in exchange for small compensations.
Let's face it, flags are expensive. Negative curation doesn't pay. The incentive is there to not only facilitate flagging, but to also normalize it. It is an open platform after all. I am sure most Steemians would think it's too cheesy to simply import CC0 libraries and get paid for each image.
Here is another easy way to dodge our blue brothers:
I actually worked with Studio C folks back in my university days.
This has been discussed by @themarkymark before in a post about making an absurd amount of money by reposting YouTube videos. In the screenshot above, the said Steemian has had their posting and bidding accounts blacklisted by bot owners.
Sometimes, they receive a bonus in the form of @badcontent:
Once again, @steemflagrewards and good Steemians around the blockchain will come flocking down on low effort copy/paste these guys call "posts".
Moral of the story
If it isn't yours, don't use it as your sole content. You will get flagged.
Abuse Series chronicles the misdeeds of bad actors on the blockchain. Other times, it is filled with pointless memes and inside jokes.

Completely agree, no attribution required doesn't mean you can use it for profit on Steemit or pass it off as your own.
Pixabay and Unsplash are good to supplement your post and give some visual content to your own original content. Steemit isn't a cash register despite what everyone thinks. The point of the platform is to share original content, not milk it with the least amount of effort possible.

That piece of shit @lordofreward is sniping even your posts now. That is an entire form of abuse that an account of over 1000 sp gives you a vote of 0.75%
Great post keep fighting the good fight!

There is no harm in curation, regardless of when and how. He gave out a free vote at an attempt to get early curation reward. There is no abuse or harm.

A dust vote of nothing is curation? That is all @lordofreward ever does.

Not the best curation, and certainly not manual, but it is curation.

I always thought the idea of curation was to find quality content and upvote it so others would notice it?
This is like gambling for curation hoping that if you microvote on something that everyone else will upvote and reward it. Therefore reward you because you guessed it was good.

That's good curation, there is little to no good curation on Steemit. There are a lot of accounts (big and small) that blindly vote all posts or a subset of them to get curation rewards. There is actually a bot called Winfrey that does exactly that.
It's not ideal, but it is harmless, and a free vote is a free vote. The entire curation system is broken at its core.

I actually read the post and comments I vote on. I enjoy reading good content. I almost never upvote post with big rewards from bots. Its seems like a lost cause.
I have a small amount of auto voting that I do. It is about 10% of my stake.
I agree with you the system is broke, but has it ever been fixed?
It seems all coding is like that. Then they can charge the users to fix it! Its some crazy shit but somehow the computers only lack one thing. GOOD CODE!

We are left treating symptoms using means from the current system because people who can actually change things refuse to budge.

Yeah, especially when curators don't really get that 25% most of the times. I'm okay with this.

Sorry, I have a question. I've watched a cool video on YouTube, and I want to comment on it. Can I give a link to this video in my post, and then write my reflections? This will not be treated as spam or plagiarism or anything else ugly?:)))

That's totally fine if you write what you think about. @steemcleaners actually don't even care if you link a video. Unless, you copied the video description straight from YouTube.
@steemflagrewards, on the other hand, will likely flag you for just copying a video when you are not the author.
It's always safer to add your own original input just to avoid unwanted flags.

This has been a learning curve for me but I have tried to source everything even things I have done myself. But it has been a slow process as things are not as clear and given the thought of being uncensored I think many get confused of what is right and wrong. It is great to see users trying to enforce it but would suggest that they can also educate certain users that may be unsure of what is expected here and not.

Believe it or not, a lot of education does happen over on the @steemcleaners Discord. Members of @steemflagrewards team try to let newbies know before they receive flags.
Unfortunately, there are many times the users don't pay attention until they notice the flags.
It's true it's a free platform and you may do as you please, but most tend to forget the part where you are also free to receive consequences.
