I've heard it said from time to time that academics love to deconstruct things as much as engineers love to build things.

It's usually said in jest; but, we have to acknowledge the danger in that.

There's value in thinking critically about what is usually regarded as conventional wisdom. Still, this is a huge reason why we shouldn't have tuition-free college, and shouldn't shove every kid into academia.

Most of the (air quotes) academics don't seem to be able or willing to follow their deconstructions and complications with any conclusions or clarity.

I can't help but think that this is the major contributing factor in regard to people not knowing what a woman is (or, at least claiming to not know). People are coming out of the academy thinking that they'll sound dumb if they recognize the simplicity of an issue.

When it comes to morality, this is deeply concerning.

If much of what the world of academia is putting out to the world is people who have such confused and overcomplicated understandings of moral values that they think that none of it actually matters, or that nobody is right or wrong, you're gonna get...well...These United States over the last several years.
