Pretentious in the style of modern Middle East style mosques with a white bandage on almost the entire building and the blue color in the dome with a touch of golden yellow, the Great Mosque of Baiturrahim Lhoksukon stands majestically in downtown Lhoksukon district of North Aceh. The discourse of the construction of this mosque has been raised in 1968, beginning with a search for the right land for the construction site. The selected location is the People's School (Now SDN 3 Lhoksukon) which was then converted in 1972.
In the same year, the construction of the mosque was started by a community led by Tgk H. Ibrahim Bin H Ya'qub and other community leaders, among them Abu Sulaiman (Abu in Dayah), Tgk Abu Basyah, Tgk Ismail Aziz, Tgk Kasem Usman, Tgk Thaeb Usman, Tgk Ismail bin Dayah as the committee and the Regent of North Aceh period 1973-1978, Abdullah Yakob.
The laying of the first stone of the Great Mosque of Baiturrahim was conducted by the Regent of North Aceh at that time and witnessed by the Lhoksukon Kharismatics, Abu Sulaiman (Abu di Dayah) and other mosque construction committees, and the whole new development process was completed in 1980.
The mosque was completely renovated in 2004, after Lhoksukon was declared as the capital of North Aceh and the splitting of Lhokseumawe in 2001. At that time the head of North Aceh Regent was held by Ir H Tarmizi A Karim, M.Sc. Renovation was done in August, to coincide with the holy month of Ramadan. The development process is funded by APBD and community self-help.
The mosque's design was designed to be Middle Eastern architectural with 6 basic foundation poles to support the mains domes surrounded by 4 small domes and 4 towers that surround the main dome. It has a main gate with a design that suits the shape of the mosque. Inside the mosque wear a mixture of colors with copper relief dominance.
