Salah satu barometernya dapat dilihat dari semakin banyak muncul cafe dengan market dan branding yang berbeda-beda. Bagi masyarakat Aceh, kopi adalah denyut nadi kehidupan. Kita bisa dengar pembahasan isu terkini dalam sebuah obrolan santai di kedai kopi. Peribahasa "Semua masalah pasti bisa selesai diwarung kopi" sangat populer di masyarakat Aceh.

Secangkir Keringat Buruh Kopi

Penggilingan kopi Cek Mad berdiri sejak tahun 1986. Usaha tersebut saat ini dipegang oleh cucunya. Tidak sembarang orang bisa melakukan pekerjaan sangrai kopi. Dibutuhkan insting, teknik, serta tenaga luar biasa untuk mendapatkan hasil akhir yang berkualitas. Pada saat memanggang, drum berisi biji kopi diputar secara manual agar biji kopi matang secara merata. Durasi proses sangrai kopi berkisar antara 45 menit-1 jam, tergantung selera pemesan. Dalam satu hari, penggilingan kopi Cek Mad bisa memproduksi kisaran 100 hingga 150kg. Selain melayani jasa sangrai dan penggilingan kopi, Cek Mad juga meproduksi olahan kopi sendiri yang dijual dalam partai kecil. Tidak sedikit kedai kopi di Banda Aceh yang berlangganan menggunakan jasa Cek Mad. Biasanya diwaktu musim liburan, banyak pengunjung dari luar kota penasaran sekedar ingin tahu tentang usaha Cek Mad yang masih mempertahankan proses sangrai kopi secara tradisional, dan membeli produk kopi olahan Cek Mad untuk dijadikan oleh-oleh.
