I again say God bless @cryptokannon, @ngoenyi, and everyone for the moral and encouragement to we the beginner on this steemit platfom.

My achievement 3 post is on the steemit etiquettes. In every juridition, there are dos and don'ts, so as it is applied in steemit platform.
We are to understand plagiarism and citations as the main etiquettes in steem.

Let's me give answer to this questions

What is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone's exact work or idea claiming it is yours, with or without the person's permission or without you acknowleging the person. The person's work may or may not be documented, published or printed. The moment you try doing such an act, it is called plagiarism.

What are the types of plagiarism?

(1) . Direct or intentional plagiarism
When you copy/paste directly from someone's presentation or article without making even a single amendment to the words.
Also, some parts of the sentences may be change and replaced by plagiarist's own word but all is plagiarism.

(2) . Accidental or unintentional plagiarism
Writing or presenting your work but not knowing the content and words are from a different person's work. If you cite the exact words or you cite wrongly, it is considered plagiarism.

What can be considered as plagiarism?

(a). Posting someone's diagram or picture without his/her permission or without crediting the main author is plagiarism.

(b) . Direct copying and pasting another person's article without his/her awareness.

(c) . Translating Non-English word or sentence to English and posting is a form of plagiarism.

Negative effects of plagiarism

It may break copyright rule. It can also make people lazy in learning because the plagiarist needs to only copy and paste directly from other people's work

How can we curb or eliminate plagiarism?

We can curb plagiarism by the following
(1) Ensure you create the awareness of the original author.
(2) Before you post, use plagiarism checker.
(3) Give credit to anyone's work you used as reference.

What is citation?

It is a clear indication to the readers of your article or post that the material or content from your work is claimed from a certain source. It gives detailed location and reference to the readers. There must be parentheses to show citations. In case you use someone's article for research purposes to create your own post, then you need citations to indicate the original source of the idea.
