We visited Chicago, IL and had to go see the 'Bean'!

The 'bean' is really called Cloud Gate and it is located in Millennium Park in downtown Chicago. It is a sculpture by British artist Sir Anish Kapoor.

The Bean is made up of 168 stainless steel plates welded together and completed construction in 2006.

Here are my two boys in front of the Bean.

I love how the city is reflected on the sculpture's surface:

thanks for viewing my 'Bean' photos!

love chicago and love visitin the anish kapoor sculpture. my favorite was two years ago, going veryyyyy early in the morning (before sunrise), and on an overcast slightly rainy day - absolutely nobody there and it was incredible!!!!

that is great idea to go early in the morning. to get some good photographs! when we went, it was so crowded. lots of people like the 'bean'!

so true! its the main tourist spot in chicago! but such a lovely area with the park and all the green space they renovated there.

Beautiful! I'm hoping to go to Chicago as my next holiday (I live in the UK), I've become a little obsessed with the city since I started writing my next novel and it's set in Chicago. :P

Hi penny-rose, you will love Chicago. The city is very unique and has a good vibe. so many things to see there. that is cool you are writing a novel!

I've only ever heard good things about it! Although, writing a novel where it's based in Chicago isn't as easy as it seems, especially when you don't know the surrounding areas, but I'm getting there. And I'm already obsessed, especially since coming across Wacker Drive!
And thank you, I'm an author, so I write novels. :P I have one published and a few coming soon (I hope), feel free to check them out on my blog if you are interested. :)

This one is a classic for us architecture nerds! :)

no doubt! glad you like the pic!
