While taking my morning walk, I listened to this interview with Michio Kaku on what he believes to be the three stages of human consciousness. What struck me about his ideas is that the third stage of human consciousness, the one that he thinks separates humans from all other animals, is the ability to visualize and predict the future, or at least its various possibilities. This third stage of consciousness, he claims, comes from the development of the pre-frontal cortex.

What struck me specifically about his theory is the way it seems to suggest, much like adherents to the New Thought Movement do, as well as many self-development that there are various laws which allow us to manifest that which we desire (think Law of Attraction). You see, I have been caught up in this idea of self manifestation for the past three or four months. I’m not sure how I stumbled upon it exactly, but I have, and I’ve found the ideas very motivating.

It’s not so much the idea that we can manifest our future that attracts me, although of course I do take comfort in that, it’s the realistic (and sometimes odd and maybe not so realistic) ways that many of the self-development speakers I have been listening to break down the way that we can develop habits that will alter our brains (for better or worse), and the ways in which our brains then create feedback loops that then create more of the same results (again, for better or worse).

Kaku’s ideas in this interview seem to support a lot of the things I have been hearing about regarding the possibilities of manifestation and autosuggestion, ideas that state you can, to an extent, and with continuous effort, create your own life and environment through choice and imagination.

I found this talk very interesting. Give it a listen and see what you think.

Oh yeah, as for exercise, I ran for three miles in the evening and walked in the morning.

That’s good to hear. What lessons are you listening to?

Related my study and some time motivational speech.

Walking is a perfect time to study, isn’t it? You get exercise and learn at the same time.

I'll listen it😊

So... What did I learn during these 19 minutes? Well... I think I have a pretty good idea of how Jackie Chan will look like when he's 80 years old.

It sounds like the 19 minutes wasn’t a good investment of your time then. Sorry about that.

Btw, isn’t Jackie Chan already 80 years old?

Have you seen the movie What the #$*! Do We (K)now!??

I remember when that movie came out, and I think I watched it, but I can’t remember for sure. When that movie came out, I was in my drunk and mind altered 20s, so not much stuck to me.

I have listened to Dr Joe (I can’t remember his last name), and while I’m intrigued by what he says, and while I keep finding his statements corroborated in other places and by other people, something about him still strikes me as a bit fraudulent. I don’t know why.

Bob Proctor is the guy whose voice really reached me on all of this stuff, but he’s always referring to Napoleon Hill, and if you follow up on his life, he sounds like he was a real bastard who didn’t preach any of the virtues that are written in his famous book Think and Grow Rich.

I’m approaching all of this with a bit of skepticism, but am really intrigued by all the worthwhile and practical advice that I’m getting while learning about the idea/process of manifestation.

I’m enjoying your journey. Keep learning and sharing.

Thanks! That’s nice to hear.
