My Actifit Report Card: June 23 2019 Back To Work For A Day

in actifit •  5 years ago

Interesting day I had today. I went to work for a day at the restaurant my parents own. I haven't worked here in a long time.

My job was simple. Make breakfast and lunch meals til 1:30. Simple fast food cook. Nothing great but not so bad either. I would prefer more healthy foods myself but this is one way to gain extra cash.

I was replacing my mother for that time while she was away in another town and I was happy to do so. I like kitchen work, I enjoy hearing people tell me if they enjoyed their food and it also keeps me busy and gets me out of the same old, same old.

Didn't think I would miss the deep fryers (actually I don't) and this cutting space and handy counter fridge. I like the spacious prep table they have. The simple joy of putting a plate together to make it look nice and appetizing. Wish I could show pics of them but when the orders come in there is no time to whip out the phone for pictures. And with the cleaning and the dishes, and all that prep to do, there is very little time to get more than I did. So here is a picture of bacon!

People really like their bacon for breakfast. And to think, some plates came back empty, all eaten except some slices of strawberry. Sigh

The cool thing about working in the kitchen is that you get all the food to be really creative, although this time was not the case as I was there for only a half day. And I can definitely say the worse thing is well ... 2 things actually; the heat when it's already crazy hot outside and coming out smelling like a french fry. Yummy... Right? 🤮

Nothing like a hot shower to fix that, except I couldn't say the same thing for the clothing. You wouldn't want to wear your best work clothes as it's really hard to get the grease smell out.

The rest of the day was, once again, about cleaning and rearranging furniture, trying to get the most of the space we have.

Now I am just pooped, I'm finished for the day and it's time for bed, please!

Have a good night everyone!

I'd lose the pounds faster if I could keep working there again.. Although the grease that seeps into my skin just from cooking might stop that from happening lol.

I had lots of fun ^_^

Sounds like hard rewarding work. Your parents are probably so happy to get your help.

They are happy when I can, and it's time spent with my dad at the same time. Win win :) Thank you for the tip ^_^

Lots of hard work and you made people happy with good food.

It is what I am always hoping for. It's a good feeling ^_^

I dont mind cooking for myself but not sure I could handle cooking for many, it must be such tiring work and lead to a greta step count

At the end of the day I can say I get pretty tired. But it keeps the mind alert, and always thinking ahead. Think about the timing of getting plates out all in order and at the same time for those sitting together. Making sure it tastes good, not too salty, not burnt, not under cooked, watch out for the other workers, make the plates look nice, clean up the mess, wash up when dealing with different meats, disinfect when cutting the meats etc. It is fun if you like it.

It must be so satisfying seeing satisfied customers in the telecommunications and IT field, People just expect it to work, you only hear anything from the end users when something goes wrong LOL

I've worked in telecommunications before, quite a few years ago, expect that 95% of the incoming calls is because there is something wrong or its a complaint. The rest is to make accounts or to switch up the services. It is such a negative work area because of that, that when theres a good call, its an amazing one wother putting on the calendar!
