Running back and forth to Home Depot to buy essential plumbing supplies can be a chore. There was a time when I just called the plumber for any type of repair that needed to take place in my home.
That was when I was working every day and I could afford the high cost of plumbers. Most plumbing supplies are relatively inexpensive. For example, somehow the contraption underneath the sink rotted out and was no longer functioning properly.
This apparatus that I bought from Home Depot was less than $15. It is not difficult to put on the lavatory sink, if you have the right tools.
I invested in basic tools along time ago when I started maintaining my homes and rental property. I discovered that many things can be repaired by the homeowner if you have the right tools and some decent instructions.
There are plumbers that work at Home Depot that will help you out with whatever project you need to work on in your home. They want you to do it yourself so that you continue to come into the store to buy supplies and equipment. They are especially helpful to women.
This is another project that I can check off of my list of things to do.

Are these Home Depot shops the same as in Germany: as soon as you really need some help, all these information counters are unstaffed and you're hearing crickets ;)
But most of the time the people working there (if you manage to catch one) are nice and helpful. And I like going there in the morning, when more craftspeople are there. Asking one of them works, too.
