My Actifit Report Card: April 17 2019

in actifit •  5 years ago

I rested a bit more today and did not do much except walk the dog. My arm and back feel much better but I needed to do a lot of computer work.

I've got a lot of my software setup back on my laptop and I'm trying to get lots of my old graphics programs working again. There are many new versions of software I have yet to upgrade.

I took this picture when I was out walking today. The trees and flowers are blossoming a lot now. I modified it in some of the software I was installing.

I read on interesting article on some ways to evaluate how worthwhile a cryptocurrency is. It kind of got me thinking more about where I should put my effort. Here's the link below if your interested:

Your photo has a Monet look about it :)

You can always judge a society on how it treats the "valueless".

Valuing equities is easy as they are a multiple of their earnings. However, crypto is more of a store of value much like gold...it doesnt produce products or profit per se. However, Steem to me is the exception. Value, in terms of enjoyment by many people, is being produced 24/7. Surely this has some value. The 20,000 question (there was a show about that long ago) is what that value is...

Thank you, I do find it fun to play around with digital effects from time to time.

I agree that Steem is producing a lot of enjoyment for many people. There is also a nice investment aspect to it as well.

HI, LS. Lovely photo. Glad to hear that you are still on the mend.

I read the article. It poses some ethical quandaries for sure. I suppose the answer I would give is to empower the individuals doing the producing with an eye to understanding that they will allow us to support both the old and the new ... in human terms. There is enough to go around. We can nurture the young and take care of the old. The philosophical will is the issue but either way those that produce must be supported with access to the means of production. They must be allowed to produce. Encouraged to produce.

To crypto, supporting those coins that are only idea based and have only been idea based for a long time and not supporting those producing products and services is folly. Crypto has no value in itself if it does not add to the value of the human experience. I read so many crypto expects wax poetically of IOS that pretty much only deal in concept and then come down on steem that actually backs realized operations. It is perplexing.

I suppose what I would not want to see is the elderly or the young undertaking a campaign to dissuade people from supporting the worker bees of society. Or to see so much competition and propaganda play tear down the whole structure. Just my take. I am still learning.

Thank you for the wonderful comment.

Ethical quandaries abound if you think of things in terms of replacement costs. It seems like everything is uniquely dependent on conditions that took an unfathomably long time to manifest. Yet our value system rewards contributions of some people in an unbalanced way, relegating some to live in culverts while others reside in Mcmansions.

In terms of crypto it seems that the "product" at this point in time is to move sums of fiat currency back an forth without the use of armored cars and the canonical banking system. Systems that would allow, for example, a worker in the US to send a payment to relatives in Central or South America without any fees would be useful now.

Most crypto does suffer from technological and adoption issues with exchanges presenting a major target for theft. Investors don't seem to be particularly interested in taking the moral high ground and investing in systems that move value more efficiently in energy use or pay large numbers of people so called basic income type payments.

LS stares into crystal cube, hmm... it's hard to say what is going to happen in crypto, there seems to be some colors appearing here but this calcite crystal suffers from double refraction. LOL.

Yes, there is also a large and harmful group of sociopaths at work. On their own, they do little damage and even less when identified. Alas, they are good at getting others to go along with, usually unwittingly. The older I get the more I am in favor of a basic income, assured housing, that kind of thing.

Nice shot. Probably your dog will be happy and grateful for the work

Your picture turned out great, it looks like an original painting! Glad to hear your back and arm are feeling better. Trying to work when you're in pain just plain sucks. It's a chore for sure trying to get all your programs working and set up the way you like it when you get a new laptop.

Thank you! Software really does some interesting things with photography. It is fun to try out different filters and effects.

I don't mind a little pain once on a while - it helps me really enjoy and appreciate the days that I feel great. I do get concerned about more long term injuries that take a long time to heal or become rather disabling. I guess if it happens it happens, yet I tend to back off much quicker after learning about injuries the hard way.

The laptop was kind of on the back burner for awhile and off-line. I've been getting interested in some Windows software and wanted to test some things. I would still rather use open source solutions for everything yet sometimes things you want to do are not available or as usable.
