This evening I completed my third mid-week run this week (Monday-Wednesday-Friday). Since my first WITAWITAR post almost three weeks ago, I’ve stepped up my training from running once or twice on a weekend to running twice on a weekend and at least twice mid-week.

One of my main goals now is to not go for more than two days without running, and I take Murakami as inspiration for this. He says in WITAWITAR:

I never take two days off in a row. Muscles are like work animals that are quick on the uptake. If you carefully increase the load, step by step, they learn to take it. As long as you explain your expectations to them by actually showing them examples of the amount of work they have to endure, your muscles will comply and gradually get stronger.

I feel like my body is coping well now with the increased load and tomorrow I’ll hopefully be able to run 9-10Ks (my weekend runs have been 7-8Ks the last couple of weeks).

The reason I ran three times this week because I had school-related commitments on Tuesday and Thursday nights and I didn’t want to use those as an excuse to go for more than two days without running. The only way to make that happen was to run Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It’s been a big week so now it’s time to enjoy a relaxing Friday night!
