My Actifit Report Card: June 14 2019

I gotta say, I was amazed that RTD (the local bus/train dept) actually put one of the new hybrid buses on a line that people actually ride, and not just in Cherry Creek, the rich neighborhood where almost no one rides the bus, where I usually see them. It's sad that the PUBLIC TRANSPORT in this city is so classist (among many things, they spend on trains from park-n-rides in the suburbs to downtown and the tech center, so suburbanites with cars can park for free and ride a train to work, but they ignore buses that poor folx without cars need; they also charge WAY TOO MUCH for fares for shitty service that doesn't come frequently enough), that me seeing a nice bus on a busy line was noteworthy enough to take a photo. The buses on Colfax are even worse, they save the dirtiest, oldest buses for the "notorious" 15 route.

Its sad to hear how they are so classist in the selection of which buses go on which route, a sad state of affairs

I've been on a "regional" bus (that back then cost $9 to ride, nowadays it's probably over $10) that I was only on for maybe 10-15 minutes because it ran on the highway so you went far, fast that was like a long haul travel bus with tall, individual seats and foot rests and such. Meanwhile, you'll be on a city bus for a half an hour just to travel halfway across the city proper and there's gunk on the seats, something sticky on the floor, torn up seats and signs, the heater will be broken, etc.
They've got it all backwards.

I have done a few bus trips around the world between cities some lasting hours, but yes riding ones around a city like NYC with all the traffic can seem an eternity with them barely moving at all at times

It used to take me 2 1/2 hours to commute to work one way - in a car it would have been 20 minutes. :(

My train takes about an hour 45 on average, Drivign to work in the morning would be quicker, but the drive hoe would be often terrible from what I see of the delays on the highway I am happy on the train :)
