I Think I Figured Out The Actifit Issue

I took a quick jaunt to Trader Joe's today, and I almost didn't turn @actifit on, because I had kinda given up on it reading my steps. But I was turning ResQWalk on, so why not.

It read my steps super well, and I was sitting there wondering why that suddenly was.

I went to sleep, woke up, and realized: it's because I was wearing pants that fit properly.

I finally did laundry and got my favorite jeans, read: the ones that fit well, out of the wash to wear. On the days where @actifit wasn't reading steps, I was wearing pants so loose I was constantly hiking them up because they felt like they were falling down. The phone was sitting in a slack pocket; in these jeans it's actually held in place. You know, by my ass. Not to horrify you with that imagery, but it's true.

So apparently, if my phone is up close and personal with my arse, it realizes I'm walking. If I'm wearing fat pants, it does not.

Further walks will either replicate these findings, or, you know, not. Anybody want to throw on your old JNCOs and do a test? 😂

they finally put the bus stop back we had lost to construction, but it went from a large shelter, multiple benches, and shade, to one hard concrete bench in full sun. Fuck you, RTD.

Thought I would share! Break out the hip huggers! Or just pants that aren't falling down. That should work. 😉

But actifit is recording even the slightest movement as activity. So may be your pants are superloose because of which your phone is freely floating and not recording any steps. This is what I observed when I'm using it.

Who would have thought you need tight fitting jeans to make the @actifit work! What was the city thinking? Cheap buggars not wanting to spend the extra for a decent bus stop!

Denver is super unfriendly to the carless. Public transit here has never been about who uses and needs and relies on it. The prices are absurd and rising again; the time it takes to travel unless you park a car at a park and ride, take a train into downtown, and otherwise drive is absurd; the empty buses in nice neighborhoods are clean and low emissions but the heavily used buses in poor neighborhoods are old and dirty, etc. I've had regular commutes where I was at work for nine hours and commuted for five or six hours. To stay in the same suburb, let alone going further afield, which sometimes isn't even possible.

This is totally ridiculous We know where the votes are coming from...

YEP! Round trip regular fare, just to go to the grocery store and back, is over $5.

They're not tight, they just fit, as opposed to falling down loose. And I haven't left the apartment, so I don't know.
