Hello everyone π»,
Happy hump πͺ day, happy new year and a very warm welcome to my report. We are bang in the middle of the week and the tail end of January, how lovelyπΉ...
I have had a great day and am about to share it including the trending stories that caught my eye π.
Definitely thank you for stopping by and let's get into it π¨.
So I started the day with the usual morning walk around the neighborhood. It was largely βοΈ cloudy and chilly. But the sunπshone through for a while later in the day
I didn't last long outside and after about 25 to 30 minutes, I was back indoors for the usual house chores including cooking. Time flies by so fast with the earlier sunsets.
Later, I settled down to some you tube, x and trending news from around the world.
My final walk was the sunset π walk this time around the neighbourhood and the supermarket close by.
So now let's look at what trended globally.
Starting off in Gaza, more than 500,000 Palestinians have now returned to the North, more on the way by foot/vehicles.
The ceasefire still holding, tomorrow Hamas will release 3 Israeli captives while Israel will release 110 Palestinian prisoners.
Israeli troops partially withdrew from the Netzarim corridor and are now stationed east of Gaza city.
Unlike Gaza, the Occupied West bank is still undergoing an Israeli military raid. 3 Palestinians killed in Tubas as Israel says it is trying to flash out terrorist elementsπΏ.
In Jenin, Israeli forces demolished homes and bulldozed streetsπ.
Meanwhile, In Israel, PM Netanyahu met US top envoy, Steve Witkoff probably discussed the ongoing ceasefire and way forward.
Not far off, Syria trending as Ahmed Al Sharaa has been named interim president for a transitional period. All armed forces will be disbanded to form one army. The constitution has been suspended and parliament dissolved.
The new Syrian administration have also announced the dissolution of Assad-era Baath party.
Across the pond in the US, Trump in full steam as he signed an immigration law bill , his administration's first piece of legislation. The new law allows federal govt to sue state govts who refuse to enforce border policiesπ.
Finally, more violence and deaths in DRC as tens of thousands fled the town of Goma as M23 rebels advancedπΏ.
They are now progressing south to the town of Bukavu. Full of rare minerals and vast resources has been a curse for the past 40 years, poor leadership playing a big part, very sad turn of eventsπΏ.
So that's it, see you again tomorrow on an amazing throwback Thursday π. Until then stay safe, take care and adios β€οΈ. Hakuna Matataπ»π―
