Another two inches of heavy wet snow!
Winter is just hanging on, and now we are getting wet snow. My new spiked chain crampons were delivered and I took them out for a test hike!😊
These are deep spikes, and on very wet snow they tend to get get ice build up between the chains and the spikes. This is a problem I have experienced with snowshoe’s also in late Spring, the warmer the snow the more problematic.🤔
I might need to file some height off of the spikes if this continues......🙄
The temperature is dropping again, at the moment it’s 28 degrees so the snow will be around for a while 🥶
I’m just going to kick back and enjoy the rest of the evening by the wood stove!🤗
Maybe you could carry a can of non stick cooking spray with you when you hike and lube the spikes. That might help keep the snow from sticking, even if you have to spray often. Cheap and easy fix! Enjoy!
