Cold Air Triple Lows Busy Pattern Continues
Cold Air Triple Lows Busy Pattern Continues
Getting these rounds of cold air and late season accumulating snows wouldn't be so bad if we could just squeeze in two or three nice days in between. No such luck however on that happening however as the upper air pattern continues to be a fast one with several systems moving along the way in the flow.
If we can manage to squeeze in nice day in between 3 storm systems over the next week or so, we will be very fortunate indeed. Thursday looks like the nice day even though it will be cold with some sunshine and temperatures not much out of the 40s.
Cold air will wedge in somewhat and that opens the door for either a cold rain Friday or a wintry mix. Right now it appears that the threat for snow Thursday night into Friday morning will be in areas north and west of the coast as this low is going to go by to our north.
Once this goes by Friday afternoon cold air comes right back in for Friday night and Saturday which sets the table for the second system for Saturday into Saturday night. The way models are handling this, it looks like what we saw on Monday where the system was in the long range, then disappeared, and then reappeared further north.
Today's GFS is showing this system making a bit of a comeback for Saturday. Is this system going to shift further north? Also there is a difference this time around in that this will come during the day on Saturday and not overnight into the morning hours so that could impact any kind of accumulation forecast. That is a problem for Thursday and Friday's forecast and not now. At least right now it seems something is on the table for Saturday. Sunday looks like a break in the action followed by another system later Monday into Tuesday. This is too much of a forecast headache at this point to even speculate on until we get through the first two.
