"Acts of Kindness Challenge" Entry #3 (200 words or less)

That's precisely why. All we have to do is follow the $-trail.
Basic pharmaceutical treatment for MS in Canada runs on average $30,000 per year...I don't even want to guess what average medical bills for prescriptions would run in the States. It's big business.

Figured as much. Since you don't want to guess, I will just go ahead and give you an idea of how bad it is down here. Last year my insurance company paid out a quarter of a million dollars in claims just on me! I forgot how much my part was but it was quite a bit. The first year that I was diagnosed, I accumulated a 40 thousand dollar bill and that was after my insurance paid all it was going to! I will spare you the story with that though, it is a long and depressing story. But thanks to obama my insurance premiums doubled and the coverage went to hell with a 7,500 dollar deductible with all kinds of caps and restrictions and only paid like 80% after the deductible was met . Ugggh, whooosahhh! Changing subject!

I posted another entry in to this challenge by the way. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be posting this many or not because this is like the 5th one. But they're all true and good stories, so they need to be shared in my opinion. I just don't want to upset anyone. Also... Isn't there a way that I can adjust my voting power for just you? I feel guilty when you vote my comment and it's like a 1.70 and when I return the favor, it's only .02 or .03 cents! I know your rep is a lot higher than mine and you've been here a lot longer than me but I feel bad for only giving you a few cents here and there for all of the content and friendship that you have shown me. There is so much more for me to learn here but it seems like I recall a topic about voting full power and how you can adjust it for certain things. I dunno, maybe I imagined it or something?

You'll get a sliding bar which appears under the upvote button after you vote. This comes with reputation and amount of steem power you hold. As your reputation and steem power grow, so does the amount that you can pledge to a person for their post or comments, that you appreciate.
I think in the fish hierarchy, I'm considered a dolphin...today when I voted for your comment at 100% of my voting power, that gave you $1.66. When the price of the SBD goes up, so does the amount of my vote. When I have a higher rep, 100% of my voting power may equal $3 per vote. Whales can pledge a lot per vote or downvote a lot, so if you asked me who runs Steemit, I would say we all do, with the addition that some have more influence than others.
Please never feel bad about the difference in upvote $. I worked hard to earn the right to give $ to whomever I want to. I remember what it is like to only make a few cents on a post. This is my way of "righting" that flaw in the system. You'll notice that I don't always vote at 100%. This is because I feel responsible to award appropriately. I upvoted your comment at 100% because it contains valuable information about how Steemit works. (Great question, by the way.)
