Why Am I Participating in Acudeen's Token and Sale and Why You Should Too

Acudeen has been one of the earliest fintech companies which adopted the invoice financing business model through the use of a marketplace platform. I am actually very familiar with their business model since I came from a startup fintech peer-to-peer lending platform before. Though we cater to different products since we offered only consumer and business loans at that time, the similarity reflects in that both offered a marketplace platform for both our borrowers and investors.

It is a win-win situation for both. In the case of Acudeen, invoice sellers get to encash their invoices in case they need immediate liquidity for bridge financing and buyers/investors get a good return as they buy these invoices at a discount. Invoices have tenors of 30 to 150 days. Investors can avail as much as 30% discount on the face value of the invoice.

Having said that, what's good about this company is that they have a proven track record. They have been operating since only last year 2017 with a very low default rate of only 0.002%. They started with institutional investors first as they made sure that the infrastructure is robust first before offering more into retail investors.

Invoices in their platform have no longer performance risk which means that the goods or services covered by the invoices are already delivered or rendered. Part of their due diligence in screening payors is that it should be in the list of top 500 corporations in the Philippines which means that these companies are very stable and there is almost a guarantee of non-default.

When it comes to their delinquency rate, they have 7% but this is mostly due to the process issue on the payor's side which includes missing signatures on the documents, among others. In the first quarter of 2018 alone, they have generated over USD 6 Million worth of invoices and they have built several partnerships.

As a start up company, they also have list of recognition and awards to boast for. They have received awards in 2016 even when they have not officially operated such as "Seedstars Philippines National Winner", "Tech In Asia Tokyo Start-Up Arena: Winner 2016", and "YES Start Up Summit: National Winner 2016"

In the next year, the series of awards and recognition continued as they formally began operations in January 2017. These include: "Seedstars World Global Winner" held in Switzerland. It is also in this year that Acudeen also began gaining traction as it established several partnerships to strengthen its presence as it penetrates various industries. These partnerships include Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc., Philippine Software Industry Association, Federation of Philippine Industries, Philippine Franchise Association, and and Philippine Exporting Industry, among others.
