Big Pharma is losing power due to the legalization of marijuana so they are trying to use the media to sway the general public away from natural remedies for their conditions.
Over the last 20 years deaths from overdoses of opioids has surpassed car crashes in leading cause of death. However, In the states where marijuana has become legalized the overdose deaths have decreased by over 33%.
88,000 People die every year from alcohol related deaths, yet that substance is already legal. Marijuana causes 0 deaths, there is no negative aspect to legalizing it. It can help people not only get off opiates but also benzodiazepines which also contributed to over 9000 deaths in the United States alone in 2015.
Our government tells us to not trust marijuana and considers it the same drug schedule as heroin. However, there was 0 deaths from marijuana, 88,000 from alcohol and 183,000 from prescription opiates in the United States alone.
This leads me to my troubling conclusion that the marijuana dealers are responsible for no deaths in the use of their narcotic and the US government makes tax dollars off the deaths of over 200,000 people a year. The prescription opiate market is a 24.2 billion dollar industry fueled by greed and the lack of compassion for fellow human beings. I write this as a recovering drug addict who has experienced first has what these drugs do.
These drugs tear apart families, they take your loved ones far too soon and the user feels entirely helpless about it. The good news is that I truly believe every addict has a choice, the choice to not use today. Take it one day at a time and don't use today, seek help, go to narcotics anonymous meeting. Just do not let big pharma and the government take away another innocent life for money. They can't profit off our death if we are resilient and refuse to allow addiction to strangle us.
