I am half way through my month without sweets and up until now it’s been surprisingly easy. That is, until today.
For the past two weeks I’ve had a few cravings for chocolate and milk tea, my two most common indulgences (after quitting all the others). I’ve replaced them with granola cereal and dried fruit in yogurt (probably has a little unnatural sugar but minimal in comparison) and fresh fruit. Those have served well to quench the minor cravings I’ve had.
But today I was faced with a new challenge

Associations and Triggers
I’m currently away from my home base, in a town I’ve been to twice with some people I see now and then (being as vague as possible here haha). Last time I was here, I brought them some high quality chocolate chip cookies and shamelessly ate half of my gift to them. The cookies were placed in their TV room.
This year, every time I pass the room I think about chocolate chip cookies. This association is hard to ignore because those particular cookies are my very favorite ultra sweet unhealthy food and they are hard to find, so whenever I think of them, I want to scoff down as many as I can.
As I write I, walking past the room and my mouth is drippin*g like Pavlov’s dogs. Arrrrg. I finally understand my friends who try quit smoking. The only solution I’ve had is to distract myself but we have a lot of time here and it’s quite difficult.
At least there are none of those cookies here right now, otherwise im notnsure I’d be able to resist. I’m quite sure i would justify a bite and one bite would become a whole box.
16 days to go!

Get yourself a jar of natural honey to help with the craving, don't open the jar just have it there as a crutch, thoughts are just energy, its a diversion tactic to channel thought energy in a different direction.
If it gets to emergency status grab a skinny latte with sugar free caramel from a coffee shop, always a better option than throttling a budgerigar.
Keep telling yourself that you can do it as many times as required.
I believe you can do it if you do.

Hold on, man!
I understand how difficult it is for you! I now turn to raw food, that is, only fruits and vegetables and it's fucking hard!
You wrote it right, if you eat at least one piece of cookie, then the whole box will be inside ...
Yes, sweet is a drug! You do a great job not only for your health, but for all people, when you share your resolve!
Resteem and upvote for your courage and fortitude!
Hold on, man!

Lol. Pavlov’s dogs. Nice one. Didn't know you were also staying away from sugar. That's nice! i understand how hard these kinda of association can be. There was a time I was trying to stay away from a girl and basically every time I smell her favorite food i pick up my phone and dial her number. That's probably an impertinent comparison, haha, but I totally get you. Just keep being strong. And when it gets too overwhelming, remember Oscar Wilde's infamous quote and you'll be fine!

That chocolate chip cookie will go well with a glass of milk. That is a very much filling joy ever. I guess I would love to join you in your 30 days without sweets and see how long I will last

First of all, well done for getting through half a month.
I hate to tell you but dried fruit is packed full of sugar, as is granola if you don't buy the "no added sugar" kind. But, as you say, it's probably better than what you were eating before so that's another win.
One thing I've found helps, in the cookie area is oak cakes. Can you get them where you are?
We have a brand, Nairns, who do one with mixed berries and, I've just discovered, a chocolate one. They are both low calorie and low sugar. They are my "go to" substitute when I'm trying to avoid cake in the afternoons.
Hope you're having fun in a town you’ve been to twice with some people you see now and then. 😁

Oh man, good on you to even give them up, I used to be so addicted to sweets, and even starting up with small stuff can be a dangerous games. I really try to make fruit my main thing to stave off cravings, last year was rough though and I found myself eating too many desserts. Back on track this year though :)

I'm impressed with your willpower, especially as I'm struggling with a so-called diet. I can go without bread or pasta or even fries....but sweets!?
I couldn't replace those with fruits as I don't trust fruits - I could eat them if I had to, but do it voluntarily.... :)

Argg I'm in a similar situation :) I don't wanna quit sweets, but I have to because of my hard trainings. I also get skin rashes sometimes, when eating too much of it!
I recently found some sort of organic mix of dry figs and other fruits, with cocoa pieces. Funily enough, it tastes sooo much like dark chocolate, but it has no sugar, no chocolate, and a pack lasts for more than a week! Have you tried anything like that? So I barely touched chocolate for the last 2 weeks or so, until one day when my bf bought a pack of cookies...I eat 2 pieces and felt guilty, then got back to my dry figs with cocoa... But I still don't have any cravings for chocolate :)
I think you can't just stop eating chocolate in a world full of so many delicious variations of them. But you can definitely reduce them, let's say eat only a certain amount each week. Don't you think?

I'm impressed that you're at day 14 already without too much struggle! I struggle from day 1 ;-)
I can definitely understand how hard it is to not think about the chocolate cookies once they enter your mind. You're actually making me wish I had some right now, but I'm glad I don't.
Good luck in your struggles and good for you for trying to stay away from sweets!
