Today is exactly on 21 April, is a very historic day for the nation of Indonesia. Especially for all Indonesian women

Why is it said historic day ?

Indonesian nation once had a female pioneer of justice fighters for Indonesian women named Raden Ajeng Kartini. She is an Indonesian Women Emancipation Hero who is renowned for his persistent struggle for emancipation or gender equality throughout his life. Many teenagers, especially women today do not fully understand what exactly the meaning and significance behind Kartini Day. What is clear is that Kartini Day has so much meaning for women in Indonesia that Kartini birthday is always commemorated to honor its services to the Indonesian people.

Born on April 21, 1879, Kartini was a nobleman with the title Raden Ajeng. Because the title of nobility Kartini is entitled to get education and knowledge. And from all that he understood the condition of women at that time in Indonesia. She is interest in reading then makes Kartini has extensive knowledge in the field of science and culture. However Kartini pays special attention to the issue of women's emancipation by comparing the lives of European women and indigenous women. According to Kartini a woman needs to obtain equality, freedom, autonomy and equality of law which at that time has not become the right of indigenous women. In she writings relating to social and cultural conditions at that time Kartini describes the suffering of women on the island of Java as not free in studying or learning and the existence of customs that curb the freedom of women.

At that time the degree of Indonesian women could be considered very low compared to men. That's why Kartini moved because not comfortable with the condition. Kartini feels that women are very demeaned and do not get fair treatment. Therefore Kartini voiced the emancipation of women by establishing a special school of women so that Indonesian women can feel equal education with men. Although Kartini's efforts have obstacles due to social and cultural conditions at the time. Kartini can not just ignore women in Indonesia. Kartini has a determined spirit to be able to improve woman's degree to be better in education. Although Kartini died at a young age but her ideals about emancipation continued with the emergence of a number of figures who support the struggle, especially starting from the schools.

From this struggle Kartini equality between women and men manifested until now. Women have the right to resist from various acts of violence as happened in the household. The law also now guarantees women's freedom so that those who dare to harm women can be subject to severe punishment. This is very different from the old days where women are more oppressed and belittled.
What a great struggle Kartini at that time. And now we commemorate Kartini Day on every April 21st. Kartini was named a national hero.
