Motorcycle Travel Series by @velimir 'Freedom and Love' (Part #194)

The "Labyrinth of Freedom" is laid in front of me. The sign says that walking through this energy field will increase precision, leadership, logic, freedom, intelligence, discretion, and fortitude. It will also decrease uneasiness, restlessness, panic, destructiveness, fear, morbidity and poisonousness of mind and spirit. Honestly, these concepts seem to be completely babbled out. What logic, intelligence, precision, discretion, leadership, panic and morbidity have to do with freedom?

Do I need to walk through this one? Who doesn't want to be free? What makes me reluctant is the speculation that 'freedom' is the next most misused word after 'love'. Throughout human history, too many people died for the deceiving ideal of 'freedom', without even understanding what it means. One could exactly say the same about 'love'. Both of these words are meant to support life, not death but there are so many examples of the contrary.

The concept of freedom is a false, unreachable ideal. Nobody is truly free in this realm of mind and matter. Wars are fought over the non-existing ideals, freedom being a quite often used motive. People die in the name of freedom only for to replace a few hundred people on top with another few hundred who are soon to become the same or even worse than the previous lot. This constant perpetual change, without the real change, allows nobody to really be free.

See how easily I pointed out a completely different meaning of the freedom than the one that author of the labyrinth intended to convey? That's how tricky freedom is. The freedom he had in mind is the only truly achievable one. It is the freedom in one's own mind, one's own emotions and one's own deeds. This is what we can control. Some of us, most of the times. :-D

From my experience the calmer we are and more working together with the world, rather than against it, the more control we have over ourselves. Also, let's not forget to add 'love' to this equation. Love in sense of loving life and loving the love itself, rather than possessively going crazy for another person which is probably just as lost in the same maze as we are. But, then again, that is also a form of love.

Join me for a walk through the labyrinth of freedom, now. Let's find out what is there for us. I have no need to walk through "Labyrinth of power" at the opposite side.

Enjoy the New Year's Eve and may you have all the freedom and love waiting for you out there!
See how tricky they both are? :D

Enjoy your day! :-)

You're right. Freedom starts from within. Some people wait for external factors before feeling 'free', which is a perpetual/hedonic treadmill. One must acknowledge the freedom intrinsically given to us and know the limits of what we can and should do.

I agree with you, for the great word "freedom" many people died who believed in this ideal and throughout life struggled for it. many cunning and dishonest leaders forced people to kill others, under the slogan of "freedom" but this is not right. I also agree with the statement that it is impossible in our world to be truly free, as this runs counter to all the rules and norms of morality and society.
Thank you for the wonderful photos and the opportunity to think in the right direction.

Lol - it reminds me of the old medicines that was supposed to cure everything - from an headache to cancer.

I like what you write about freedom - in fact, someone smart wrote in a book i read recently that when you have the freedom of mind - you may use your freedom to subordinate yourself to a cerain set of rules, say of a religion. and still - you did it as a act of freedom - the freedom to choice not to be "free" in the meaning most people understand it.
If we take it to a more modern/postmodern point of view - it may help elucidating this point: most people will say that being a moral person, a humanist and ethical person is a good thing, but isn't it diminishing your "freedom" to do everything you want without regard to ethics etc.? almost everybody will agree it isn't contradicting, but may find it hard to explain why. that's where what I tried to express comes in - you used your freedom to subordinate yourself out of your free will to that set of rules, hence - it is an act of freedom and not the losing of it.

Thanks for an interesting post and beautiful pictures, as always :) the second is my favorite.

Thanks for a great, thought-provoking post. "Nobody is truly free in this realm of mind and matter." <-- That says it all. True freedom is but an illusion that man is constantly chasing, but it can never be caught. If they're not in a small cage with iron bars, they believe that they surely must be free. I can't believe you're free when a government can make you pick up a gun and go kill people, or be killed, so others can profit.

I've learned to escape to freedom in my mind. No one can infringe on the total freedom where I go. ;-) Maybe the places we go in our thoughts are as much reality as what we see everyday.

We exist in this very controlled, war-torn, over-taxed, often ugly, and tightly controlled cage, but many believe they are free.

"None are more hopelessly enslaved, than those who falsely believe they are free." ~~ Johann Wolfgang Goethe I have a feeling that you know that one. lol

We're born into The Matrix, and that's where we'll die. The majority didn't take the red pill, so they'll never know. They say ignorance is bliss, so maybe it's better that way. I wanna 'Do Over' :-)

wow I love your work, I have followed you. Happy new year to you too, I wish you the best.

Thanks for the inspirational post and a happy new year of prosperity to you!

The only "freedom" I will ever have is the control of my insatiable desires and fleeting confusions. That is probably the only true freedom I can ever aspire to possess. Thanks as always for providing this space of self-exploration and Happy New Years.

Very nice writing about freedom. And I do agree with the statement - concept of freedom is false and unrealistic. I believe so because freedom itself is an idea or notion and within each person it has different meaning. Even in worst case one's freedom can be barrier or injust for other.

Thanks . I always feel smarter after reading your posts. Please keep sharing your thoughts. interesting post
