UN VIAJE A CHOQOLAQA, LA CIUDAD PETRIFICADA

Choqolaqa o simplemente la ciudad de piedra se encuentra a más de 4800 msnm, en el distrito de Tisco (4175msnm), de la provincia de Caylloma, región Arequipa, todo esto al sur de Perú

Según leyendas, Choqolaqa, la denominada ciudad de piedra, vendría a ser la ciudad de la “Antigua Arequipa”, constaba de palacios, torreones, avenidas, calles, zoológicos, etc, que producto de la desobediencia de los antiguos arequipeños hacia los apus (Cerros o cumbres con algunos poderes denominados dioses en la época incaica), quienes enfurecidos e indignados lanzaron sus poderes sobre esta urbe, petrificándola para que pase al olvido. Actualmente aún se puede apreciar una ciudad entera con formaciones rocosas que parecen haber sido lujosos castillos templos, palacios; además se pueden observar las figuras de mujeres, ángeles, animales como focas, elefantes, cóndores; así como avenidas y calles.

El 01 de agosto del 2105 se celebró, en ese mágico rincón, el “I Festival Turístico artesanal Tisco – Choqolaqa”, oportunidad para revelar al mundo los atractivos y formaciones naturales, llegando un promedio de 150 visitantes locales, regionales y nacionales quedando maravillados. Dicha Expedición partió de la plaza de armas de Arequipa. Para el año 2016 se realiza la segunda expedición con inclusión de visitantes extranjeros, realizándose los días 29 y 30 de julio.

¿Cómo llegar a Chocolaqa?

Es complicado llegar a Chocolaqa. Es más fácil hacerlo con operador turístico, porque tiene ya todo preparado. El tema es que por ahora el tour solo se hace 1 vez al año (en las fechas de fiestas patrias, los días 29 y 30 de julio). Lo otro sería pagar un tour personalizado, para poder ir en otra fecha del año.

Si eres un visitante nacional o extranjero y quieres llegar por tu cuenta propia primero deberás llegar a la ciudad de Arequipa, para posteriormente tomar la ruta hacia Chivay (rutan al Cañón del Colca) que dura un promedio de 3 horas por una carretera asfaltada, luego seguir la ruta Chivay –Tisco, por una carretera asfaltada hasta cierto punto, luego una vía afirmada haciendo otras 3 horas de viaje más y finalmente continuamos por la vía carrozable Tisco-Cota Cota, para tomar un desvió antes de llegar a Cota Cota que hará unas 2 horas más. A lo largo de la ruta podremos observar lo flora y fauna de esta parte de los andes
