Cu Chi Tunnels

The Cu Chi Tunnels are a system of narrow dug underground tunnels which the vietcong used to fight GI's (US soldiers), to make up for their lack in firing power and to outsmart the enemy soldiers.

(Entrance of a Tunnel, they used to be even smaller but this one has been made slightly bigger for tourists to try)

The tunnels were very small and were not easy to go through, although these were even bigger than they used to be. The tunnels consisted of a system which contained all sorts of areas like hospitals, meeting rooms, kitchens, workshops and way more.. all underground!

( I do not recommend visiting these tunnels if you have any problems with your back or knees or you suffer from claustrophobia)

As you may know the Vietcong, aka NLF (National Liberation Front) used a lot of boobytraps to slow down their enemies. These were not for killing! When a US soldier fell in one of these boobytraps they usually would not die instantly, regularly they would be severly wounded. When a victim would be trapped in such a trap they would shout to their comrades for help. They will then put their attention on their fellow soldier who is in serious pain and will lose sight of their surroundings, then vietcong soldiers would pop up behind them and just shoot them easily by surprise. Genious! This is just an example of the clever ways of fighting the Vietnamese soldiers made use of, which would eventually draw their lack in firing power straight (as they usually only had acces to hand guns and the US had possesion of tanks, heavy artillery, gas & chemical bombs (which we are all to familiar with) and much more disasterious machines).
