Backpacking south asia - Cambodia: Tonle Sap Lake

in adventure •  7 years ago

After few days around the temples of Angkor, it was a good time to escape the crowd and cycle the other direction.

The ride from Siem Reap to Tonle Sap lake is easy and goes through nice villages and rice fields. It is a great opportunity to discover another side of Cambodia, meet with some local and escape the beaten path.

Tonle Sap is famous for its floating villages, however, it was dry season when i was there and the villages were not really floating anymore. It looked more like houses standing on sticks but was nice to see anyway.

The ride is about 15km one way on a flat dirt road.
