This is really interesting. Question - will diseases that we human might carry hurt the sloth? or vice versa - will they carry harmful diseases to humans?

That's a really good question! I honestly do not know the answer to that but would be something interesting to look up.

In history, there have been instances that people traveled to distant places and their "common cold" (not an exact cause but a figure of speech) became the "plague" that wiped out an entire race or specie or vice versa.
There are other unintended consequences to help raise endangered species - it could form bonds so strong that they could never return to their natural habitat or environment and become a pet or cage animal - like it or not.
