My best adventure memory

in adventure •  2 days ago

Around this time last year, I was fully preparing myself for the biggest adventure of my life, which was doing the Everest Base Camp trek. Daily I had a workout session of 3 to 3.5 hours which was a mix of cardio, strength, walking, climbing, Yoga and deep breathing. My trek had happened in the month of May and 4 months before that I had started preparing myself. It was my wish to do this trek once in my life time, and last year it was my 50th, so it was a gift to myself that I gave.

I was going through the pictures of the trek and it brough back so many memories of those 10 days that I spent up in the mountains facing all sorts of challenges. My biggest fear on this trek was to face the extreme climate conditions. I cannot bear cold weather, if the temperature goes below 15 degrees, I get uncomfortable and with all of that mindset I had to face the weather on the top going down to -10 degrees. I wanted to challenge myself on this and many more of my other mental blocks. I did a solo journey, one of my friends was supposed to join me, our initial plan was made together, but then she backed out. I did not want to cancel, because knowing myself I was aware that it was now or never.

On this trek a lot of things happened to me for the first time, like my first helicopter ride, it was so exciting for me. I pushed myself ahead in the waiting zone to make sure that I get the front seat....haha.

Some clicks during the trek on different days. I am seeing these pictures and all those days are flashing in front of me. On some days I was cranky because of the rough weather and there were times when the food was not edible. Living with very minimum basic resources, not being able to take bath for days together, all of this was one hell of an experience for me. I live in so much comfort and then getting into this zone was like a different world all together. And with all of these conditions maintaining the physical strength to move ahead every day was a real task.

These prayer stones give so much of strength to the trekkers.

This was the best room in all through out my journey. Going further up it kept getting difficult. In the last 3 days the rooms were basic, there was no heating system, nor a bathroom in the room. After finishing the trek I would come to my room and snuggle up in the blanket. Would only get out for dinner and then back again in the room.

This was an acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar, here there is a museum of Tenzing Norgay, who was the first person to reach the summit of Mount Everest along with another trekker Edmond Hillary.

The most beautiful place I have visited, The Kumbhu Glacier which is located at the Everest Base Camp

I made it, so many mixed emotions in this moment. I was completely exhausted and yet I was full of energy after reaching the top. The biggest accomplishment of my life, in front of this everything else looks so small.

I do not know if again I will ever do such an adventure again, this one is going to be in my heart forever.

this one you did was a great adventure. From your words one imagines that you saw absolutely wonderful landscapes. Landscapes that can only be seen by going to those places.

Congratulations, this is one of my dream destinations!
