ANOTHER ADVENTURE - HERE WE GO - TRAVELLING OUT OF STATE TO GET BLESSED BY ANOTHER STEEMIAN

in adventure •  7 years ago

It's early, it's dark, I've got no brakes....

The question is, why would @papa-pepper wake up at 1:30 am and ride a bike with no brakes down a hill through the woods in the dark and wake his neighbor up?

The short answer is, it's time for an adventure!

HERE WE GO!

A while back, @papa-pepper got an offer. Another steemian wanted to bless my family with a large gift, but I would have to travel to another state to get it. It took a little while to get things situated on my end, but today is the day.

I woke up early and got ready. Before 2 am, I decided to save some time and borrow my wife's old bike. The plus side was that it was much quicker than walking. The downside was that it has no brakes... which also added to the plus side, making things much quicker since @bluerthangreen and @allforthegood live downhill from me. Soon, I was dragging one foot through the leaf litter as I tried to hang onto my dim flashlight while steering through the dark woods.

Again, having a neighbor like @bluerthangreen who is willing and able to help is a huge benefit too. Since we've worked some long hard hours doing random jobs together before, doing things like hitting the road at 2 am aren't really that big of a deal. Since we have a six hour drive that will end near the border of Oklahoma and Texas, we should have a long day of daylight available for our task if needed.

I cannot stress enough how much of a blessing the steemit community is. Sure, the platform is incredible too since it is nice to find somewhere that actually pays you for content, but ultimately it is the people that makes the community.

WHAT IS IT PAPA?

A few steemians already know what I'm picking up, but here are a few clues for the rest of you.

  • It is large
  • It will have to be dismantled
  • It is something that I was planning on getting one day anyway
  • It'll be perfect for my lifestyle, hobbies, and can help provide an income from home
  • We are hoping that it'll fit in the dump trailer.

If you think you have a good guess, let me know what you think below. I'll be sure to show it off before we disassemble it, but you'll have to stop back for that. Trust me, I'll keep you posted!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

I'm going to be honest here... the first thing that came to mind was... jumping castle! So follow up questions.. does deflating count as "dismantle"? And is said thing a giant jumping castle, because that would be awesome?

I feel like it checks a lot of the boxes:

  • It is large ✓
  • It will have to be dismantled ✓ (Maybe?)
  • It is something that I was planning on getting one day anyway ✓ (Who doesn't?)
  • It'll be perfect for my lifestyle, hobbies, and can help provide an income from home ✓ (I guess?)
  • We are hoping that it'll fit in the dump trailer. ✓

On a more serious note, my experience of the community has also been great thus far, and it's always nice to see people supporting each other. Kudos to whomever is blessing you.

Haha! Inflatable castle is on the top of my list.

I know right?!

But if I had to take a guess, with my very limited knowledge.... I would guess, something like a Greenhouse perhaps?

Great guess! Check the new post, you got it right!

Have fun you two! @bluerthangreen is a great guy! I have known him for 16+ years and He would give the shirt off his back to anyone! No doubt about it. He is the one who introduced me to steemit too!
Travel safe guys.

Riding alone in the dark with no breaks, that sounds like ...... fun ;-)

Not too unlike driving a loaded forklift with a dodgy carburetor and no breaks uphill, on a main road, on a blind corner.

Oh the fun we had careening backwards downhill when it stalled ;-)

a silkscreen printing machine for your T-shirts!
That's my guess from the hobby clue!

Good guess, hopefully one day.

I hope so too for you!!
but seeing the greenhouse I think that is a better priority for now :D
Congrats!!! on a wonderful gift!

I have to agree about the people making this place so special. I always found Facebook so empty, mindless and superficial. It's nice to give my time to something that actually means something to me now and bears more weight.

wow NO BRAKES? you really love to live wild and adventurous, you are a brave man @papa-pepper

I'm going to have to guess it is some sort of dumping trailer for movin mulch and such.
But.... I guess you wouldn't dismantle that when it can be towed...
Hmmm, need another hint.

The dumping trailer is what we are using to move it.

Jeez it could be anything!
Will the animals benefit from it directly?

Not directly.

Ok my official guess is.....

A computer desk wall unit.
The central hub of @papa-pepper homesteading.
The animals benefit indirectly.

Awesome adventure for the bike ride, i think you got some wheel cart from friend. Or an small Pick up car cab..

a very outrageous adventure. I understand that story .. and you give us advice about how to struggle in steemit and how to work well. thank you @papa-pepper

Haha, nice post. You have reminded me, that some of great trips I used to have with my bike, when I was younger - like over 50km bike trip from a girlfriend's place to a party in night or riding without your hands for 10km - extremely fun times. I need to visit my parents and pick up my bike and maybe hit the road alone or with somebody of mine as well for the sake of some cool adventure :)
