My Paragliding Trip in the Alps

in adventure •  7 years ago  (edited)

I'm not exactly an adrenaline freak but I love to take on new adventures and I was lucky to get a paragliding flight as a birthday gift from my friends. It was really fun and I decided to share some photos with the Steemit community.

This is actually me! The photo was taken by another paraglider.

Observing other parachutes in the air made steering look super easy but I was definitely not going to pull those strings. Luckily, it was a tandem flight.

Gliding among the mountain peaks and soaking in the fresh Alpine air truly was a unique experience.

It was so nice to watch the fading hues of mountains in the distance.

We were lucky with the wind and so we rose above the starting point of our paragliding journey on that saddle.

This is one of the waterfalls I saw along the trip. The greenery surrounding it was astounding!

I enjoyed every second of the journey, including the spinning descent that left me as pale as ghost. I hope I'll have another chance to try this out maybe somewhere else. Did you ever try paragliding? What was the most exciting for you? I'd love to hear your answers in the comments.

Awesome! It must have been scary at the beginning, huh?
Never tried paragliding but would love to do it too - in tandem of course!
I used to have a roommate that was paragliding on her own for a hobby. She told me that New Zealand has some wonderful spots for paragliding also.

It wasn't scary, just odd and exciting at the same time :) You have to try it! New Zealand sounds cool or maybe Switzerland or Dolomites. I also saw once images of some valley in Umbria Italy where there are many fields with flowers and the views from the air are gorgeous (looks a bit like Netherlands + the hills) so paragliding is really popular there.

Good to know. Thanks for the tips. We will see where I end up first :)

Great Post! I will def follow your blog. Please also check mine out. I live in Hangzhou China and I blog about my life here :)

Checked, followed and upvoted. You have some nice posts about life in China, I'd love to read more about it.

Looks like so much fun! What a beautiful spot to paraglide

It's Soča Valley Slovenia, google it, you won't regret it.

Beautiful photo~
thank you for sharing

I've been skydiving, but I've never been paragliding. It looks like you had an amazing time.

Yes it was a nice adventure and definitely not as crazy as skydiving but that one is also on my bucket list. I want to try skydiving in Dubai but it's a little expensive for me right now, maybe I'll be able to afford it with rewards from my steemit posts one day heheh.

OMG. You must have nerves of steel! This is an epic experience. Thanks for sharing. Would not have the courage even to try but you showed me the spirit of adventure is still alive in me. Hopefully, I will try some epic adventure like this. Inspirational!

Never say never @bulleye88 :)

No I've not tried it before. My soul would leave my body if I do so. :O

How long was the paragliding journey?! Wanna try out sometime.... Excited :-)

It was around 45min. Totally worth it!

Ooooo.... Terrific! 😮

Nice! I was just looking through your blog and this jumped out, I live in Switzerland most of the time and have also enjoyed a few paraglides - usually from Interlaken or Saleve. I could not figure out where you were flying from the mountains. Anyway good post and looks like it was a nice adventure.

Paragliding in Switzerland must be one of a kind. This was on the border of Italy and Slovenia.

Between Italy and Slovenia sounds like a pretty aweseome place to paraglide as well.
