Sailing Mimosa - 1

Very happy to report that we are all alive and well, after a great weekend sailing in the Solent. As my first shot at skippering a sailing yacht, I'm pretty satisfied! Just look at those happy faces making their way back into Portsmouth harbour! :)

One stand-out highlight was getting up really close to the Nimitz class aircraft carrier, USS George HW Bush, who was laid up in the middle of the Solent for a wee rest, before starting her long journey home.

The other really notable event which took us completely by surprise was Cowes Week, which is a massive regatta-like event that seemed to be going on everywhere we went. One of the most important things a skipper needs to know is what to do when they find them self on a collision course with another boat - and to put it mildly, I got PLENTY experience at this particular skill in the last few days.
