#adventure - My First Climbing at BURNI TELONG Mountain for enjoying the sunrise and taking pictures on the clouds

This time I will share my experience while climbing the BURNI TELONG mountain. This experience is old but very impressive to me and I can not forget in my life. Because it was my first climbing in my life and also a very enjoyable climbing that I have ever felt. I climbed the mountain with my friend on the anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia last year exactly on the 17th of August 2016.

A bit about BURNI TELONG

BURNI TELONG is an active volcano located in Bener Meriah district - Aceh at an altitude of 2200 Mdpl. BURNI TELONG is famous for its edelweis forest. Because there is a lot of edelweis forest grow there. BURNI TELONG mountain also offers a lot of beauty among them we can see a very beautiful sunrise can also take pictures like on clouds.

BURNI TELONG is located about 150 km from downtown, Banda Aceh. You need 6 - 9 hours drive by car or motorbike to reach that mountainside. While to reach its peak, you must walk and climb. This takes about 5-6 hours.

Our trip to the peak of BURNI TELONG Mountain

At 04:00 pm we arrived at BURNI TELONG mountainside. Precisely in Rembele Village, Lampahan sub-district, Bener Meriah distric. We will start the climb after we get directions from the local committee. About 04:30 pm we started road the footpath between local coffee plants at BURNI TELONG montainside.

With a bag that contains the supplies and equipment we need there. We go hand in hand, occasionally we talk and joke. We did not feel we had walked an hour. We've arrived at the first post. We also agreed to take a break.

"Still far", I asked my friend who had been climbing burney a few times. "Not much more, about 1 hour and a half we have reached the inn," he replied.

"Let's go, the day is getting darker" said asparwen invites us to continue the climb. Without arguing we rushed to get up and continue the journey. The road this time is more difficult than the previous one. How not, this time we have to walk a little climbing path. Not infrequently we have to hold the plants around us as a pedestal. It was so exhausting that I and some of my friends had to rest a lot.

The day grew darker, our strength diminished. The clock also shows at 06.30. We just got to the second post, whereas before dark we had to get to the third post to set up camp.

"How brother? can we arrive, or not?" Asked my friend to our guide. "calmly, not too far just a little steep road, so be careful my friend" he reminded us.

Finally, at 07.00 pm we arrived at the third post, there are already many also filled by climbers who first got from us. A lot of climbing at this time, according to the estimates of the committee reached 400 climbers from various regions. This is because they want to celebrate the anniversary of the independence day of tIndonesia on mountain peak of BURNI TELONG.

We were looking for the right place to set up camp. We built 2 camps there. Because our number is 8, so we have to stay 4 people per camp. Some of us immediately searched for firewood and lit a fire in front of our camp. The temperature at that time was about 10 -15 degrees Celsius so it made our body very cold.

While warming our bodies near the fire, we cooked rice and noodles for our dinner tonight. We also heat water to make coffee. About an hour later the food was ready for the meal. At 08.00 pm we had dinner accompanied by GAYO hot coffee. Although not fancy, but very nice and fun.

After dinner, we joined another group of climbers near our camp. While accompanied by coffee and cigarettes we sang together there until late at night. We were all joking and laughing together. This is so much fun that we forget the time. This is an experience I can not forget in my life.

On that night we also prepared some greetings for our friend we wrote on paper. This we will hold while taking pictures as a souvenir for our friends, which we will upload in social media later.

Did not feel the clock was showing at 04.00 am. So we have to climb again, why should it be now? Because to reach the peak of the BURNI TELONG mountain from here takes an hour and a half. So to be able to see the sunrise on time so we had to hurry now.We put some important things we thought we might need to get there in our bags like cameras, drinking water, coffee and cigarettes. With flashlight illumination, we climbed up to conquer the steep rocks. Occasionally we had to crawl while holding small plants around us. This is caused by the sprint road to get there.

I often have to stop and sit down to rest. This is really very tiring. I was almost desperate and did not want to continue the journey. "Quick friend, we're almost there", said my friend encouraged me.

We Arrived to Peak of BURNI TELONG

I got up and kept climbing. Around 5:30 am we arrived at our destination, the peak of the BURNEY TELONG mountain. Very beautiful and amazing. our fatigue while climbing to reach this place was already paid off. The temperature was very cold, it around 9 -10 degrees Celsius. So we had to sit close together to warm our bodies. Because here forbidden to turn the fire on.

Our friend took out the coffee that had been made earlier in the camp. He poured hot coffee into our own glasses. Without waiting, I immediately drank the coffee while smoking cigarettes occasionally. This can warm our bodies while waiting for the rising of the sun.

Around 6:00 am the sun was beginning to show itself, this is the time that we are looking forward to. A ray of red light that bounces at the peak of the mountain and accompanied by clouds that begin to turn blue. Really beautiful and amazing. Indeed sunrise at the peak of BURNI TELONG mountain was no opponent.

This moment makes us impatient to take pictures with beautiful sunrise background. We were fighting each other at that time, because we only have one camera. We must be willing to queue to get a photo on that moment.

"Attention attention, to all climbers who are at the peak of BURNI TELONG mountain please stand and march to follow the flag ceremony", the announcement of the committee invited us to follow the anniversary ceremony of the Independence Day of Indonesia.

The ceremony took place solemnly, although not the same as the usual ceremony carried on the field. We sang Indonesian songs while the flag was flown. The ceremony is directly directed by the local committee.

After the ceremony was over, we proceeded to take pictures. Now is the most appropriate time to take a photo like we are on the clouds. How come? The atmosphere was bright, white clouds flying around us carried by the wind. This makes us like to be on an airplane.

We did not feel the clock was showing 09.00 am, the day was getting hotter. One by one climbers began to descend and leave the place. The same with us. We prepare to get down and return to the camp in the third post.

Not like climbing, getting down is easier, because we do not need the extra power again like before. With a little running and once stopped we headed back to the camp. And At 09.30 we reached the camp.

After taking a break, we should pepare and pack up our things to get back. And At 12.00 we We got back the mountainside of this mountain. Then, We headed to our vehicle which has entrusted to the local youth. We thank them and we come back.

Before returning home, we were invited by one of our friends whose his home was near to this place. After the shower we were served lunch by his mother. After eating, we immediately fell asleep till tomorrow morning. This may be caused by our exhausting body.

Although tiring, but very pleasant. That is our experience in climbing the BURNI TELONG mountain. To All my friends on steemit if you have more time and money there is no harm in visiting here. The scenery is impressive and will make you satisfied.

A Little Advice for Who Want to Climb

There are some things to note and be prepared when climbing a mountain :

1. Provide complete preparation such as food, camp, water, flashlight, lighter and so on that you think might be needed there
2. for food you should provide practical food such as pop noodles, coffee sachets, this can make it easier for you there later
3. always compact with your group
4. Never violate the rules that have been made by the committee there. Because the violated rules will lead to ourselves
