I was supposed to do this before Silly Season kicked all the way in and...well I'm in some downtime before it arcs up fully so here we go XD
Retopo is going slowly and painfully as per usual. I just have to finish the wings and then I can start painting, and hope that my retopo job isn't completely crap and that he animates all right. Then after that I have to fix the rig and give him some hair and then maybe have a little fun while I work out who I'm doing next.
And the other thing I'm working on (because I never have enough going all at once) is backstory art for another character:
With this one it's just finishing off the last shadow layer and a blue light layer and some overlays. I probably won't get them done before new year.

I wanted to surprise you with it, but I've actually been writing a story for the engagement present you gave us for a number of weeks now :) The reason why I'm saying it now is because I wanted to post that before Christmas, but it seems like I'm not going to be able to make that deadline. I'm already on my third overhaul of the story, and I just really want to do it justice :/ It went from Rom-Com, to Drama, to Action haha!

LoL AER stuff seems doomed to some form of progression/evolution by the looks XD When I originally came up with the idea (in freaking early 2000s!) it was supposed to be kind of a parody of a lot of the anime I watch/used to watch back in the day. There was going to be superpowers and city destroying battles and every trope I could squeeze in there! And I was absolutely not going to take anything seriously!
But apparently the project wanted to be serious so I ended up with something gritty and serious. But it's all good, it's working which is the main thing ;D
You're a good writer, I'm sure whatever you come up with will be great. Looking forward to whatever you come up with whenever you feel like it's ready to go :D

Oh I bet that's a tough angle, but the payoff for doing that correctly is huge! A real test to the anatomical correctness, I feel. The shadow work for that would be tough as well I think.
I have a couple of those as well. I've kept those universes going mostly because I want a tether to a time when my creativity was at its peak. They're a hodgepodge of a lot of references, and I wouldn't change a thing about them.
One day I'll make it so that it'll be reversed. "You're a great writer, I'm sure whatever you come up with will be good." Hahaha! I don't know if that's a good thing... or a great thing.
I think I'm mostly bogged down because I'm operating in someone else's playground. I really want to do the universe justice without changing too much stuff. Really though, I want to make it fit into the current style and not mess up.

Trust me I know that feeling of playing in someone else's playground XD I used to write fanfiction (with not as much effort as I put into my own stuff as back then it was something fun and easy, so when I read back on some of that old stuff I can see just how much polishing and refinement it needed to be actually good, even though other people seemed to like them o_O), and last year I did a collab fanfic with an old friend utilising a lot of her characters and her take on the universe we were using. She thought I did all right in the end, but all the way through I was having massive panics about breaking her characters as well as the canons XD

He appreciated the comment, just reckons he wasn't sure what to reply hence only upvoting :) The bigs are used to the somewhat shallower interactions of Youtube and music.ly (where it seems to be all about the likes and in the case of Youtube anyway probably safer not to venture into the comment section) so here takes a little bit of getting used to.
