Aergo Blockchain review

Introduction
AERGO is a new blockchain protocol, which aims to power both public and private blockchain deployments. Based on Blocko’s experience in providing large-scale, production level private blockchain to recognized enterprise customers, AERGO intends to be purpose-built to enable enterprise architectures based on blockchain by incorporating both new, innovative and established technical approaches to build scalable distributed database systems.
Aergo aims to resolve the issues of IT integration, software development, privacy, scalability and interoperability. Aergo seems to be the first to provide features such as SQL, reactivity and isomorphic programming. It also introduces a new software stack comprised of SQL, AERGO and Meteor. The ultimate goal is to create a platform for developers to easily build and deploy dApps within the cloud with faster transaction speeds and lower operational costs.

Technology
Aergo project mainly consists of three components; Aergo Chain, Aergo Hub and Aergo Marketplace (see Fig. 1).

Aergo Chain is a proposed blockchain designed to mitigate issues currently experienced with public blockchains. It aims to include an SQL based smart contract platform as well as advanced features, such a distributed version and concurrency control (see Fig. 2 for basic features of it). A key component here is that they have side chains (i.e., private chain and private chain) such that enterprises can use the private chain when they need to preserve some information from the general public, which cannot achieve from a public blockchain.

Aergo also supports the EVM such that existing projects can be incorporated into the Aergo ecosystem easily. The consensus mechanism is based on a pos method, thus it is economical (than the pow methods). The project is eventually expected to achieve 1m+ tps based on sidechain technology, thus dApps with large scale transactions can be built on the Aergo blockchain.

Aergo Hub is the public interface of Aergo chain. The Aergo hub will enable developers to build, test, deploy and manage independent blockchains. This is essentially a web-based blockchain hosting service (similar to current public cloud web services) that provides various tools and services.

AERGO Marketplace aims to enable the sale and purchase of peer-to-peer computing assets such as storage, computing power, algorithms and contents, etc. This is accessed by Aergo Hub and managed by Aergo Horde.
Third parties such as service providers and cloud infrastructure vendors will be able to market their products and services to the Aergo users. The marketplace is accessed through Aergo Hub’s public interface. Fig. 3 illustrates the whole system.

Token Economics
Aergo token has various use cases including,
i. running smart contracts
ii. DPoS consensus algorithm
iii. payment method for tech support on coinstack
iv. payment method for Aergo Hub services
v. payment method for Aergo Marketplace
Therefore, it is expected with the mass adoption and growth of the Aergo ecosytem, token price will grow as well.

Team
Aergo team consists of many experts both in the development aspects and business management, which is a rare sight in crypto space. The team is mainly distributed in four categories, starting from Aergo Board, followed by Committee Heads, and then members are distributed into Tech team and Business team. Also, there is a strong panel of advisors. Mr. Phil Zamani, who has 20 years of open source and cloud business experience, leads the Aergo project as the chairman and CEO. Fig. 4 shows the members of Aergo Board and Committee Heads.

The project has a very strong team of advisors inclduing Mr. Eddie Alleyn who has worked for Ministry of Defence UK; Mr. Vincent Zhou, the founder of FBG Capital. The advisory team consists of 8 members from various tech and business backgrounds.

Roadmap
testnet is within the reach, and the mainnet is supposed to come in Q1 2019, thus we can see that Aergo has achieved significant tech developmenets compared to many blockchain projects launched recently (see Fig. 5 for more details).

Summery
Aergo blockchain is launched by Blocko, very successful company in blockchain space. Therefore, compared to many ICOs launched recently, Aergo project can be considered a safe bet in the blockchain space.
Aergo doesnt have a crowdsale, and as those without crowdsales tend to perform well in the short-term, it is expected to perform well in short term. Aergo has everything to perform long-term as well (given it is supported by top VCs not only in blockchain space but also from traditional VCs), this is really an interesting project to be launched during this bear market.
